Whats your plan for the exterior? Are wool pads necessary?

It isn't in horrible shape to begin with. Deck is pretty bad due to all the bitchin parties we've had on it during the summer, but the hull itself is pretty decent.

We'll see what I end up using. I'm going to do some test patches in the coming weeks.

I see,

I'm trying to learn more about boat detailing.

Yesterday a customer asked me to detail his 53ft Ocean Alexander. I'm afraid i'm gonna have to turn him down. I'm just no an expert on gelcoat.

I find it to be more forgiving than clear.

From the boat i did gelcoat is more forgiving IMO as you dont have to worry about burning through like clear coat. Its does take faster rpms and more pressure to remove oxidation and swirls. Get gelcoat specific pads though. I used my regular pads which to find they overall melted after the detail was done :( Here is the thread of when I detailed this jet boat. NOT BIG but its still took me 8-9 hours!
