I want to start off by thanking everyone for the great information on this site. I've done alot of reading on this site and have learned alot, so thanks to everyone!

I'm looking for a little advice...I'm going to switch from the Megs 6.5 inch pads to the LC 5.5 inch pads for use on my DA and was wondering which colors you'd recommend to use with 83 and 80. Also how many of each would you get? I'm going to be doing my wife's '05 Expedition and my '06 Ram 1500, on different weekends, but I want to make sure I order enough pads to do each vehicle in one sitting. As for the condition of the vehicles, I try to keep my truck spotless, but my wife's Expedition, well let's just say we have 3 kids and will require a little more elbow grease. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on the condition I would get al least 2 orange, 2 white and 1 gray and dont forget to get a spur brush.

I was thinking of getting 3 packs of the orange and whites to start off with...$14.99 for each 3 pack. I still have my Megs 9006 pad which is similar to the gray, right, so I can use that for now I assume.

If you were going to do a test area, how would you progress...

Start with white pad and 80. If that doesn't work would you try 80 on an orange pad or 83 on a white pad next?...If you still need to get more aggressive, what would you try next?

Just trying to put a game plan together.

orange and white are a must with these pads. I have a few gray and red ones but rarely use them
You should use the gray or red after polishing to jewel the paint. Will give the final polish that extra pop. I didnt believe it would do anything til I tried it. Will never polish without using the grey pad as my last step in polishing. Try it youll like it.

Would you use 80 on the gray pad to finish up or is it more for 21-synthetic sealant or 7-glaze?

Sorry no experience with Megs, Menz kind of guy. Whatever your final polish might be, just do a couple of more passes with a dab or two on a grey pad and you will see a difference, its called burnishing or jeweling. I believe a lot of detailers skip this step and they are missing out.

So for your last step you'll use a grey pad with your polish and then apply your wax or sealant over it?

Which Menz product do you use for your final polish? This way I can figure out what the Megs equivalent is. Oh, and before I forget, thanks for the help!

Your welcome. Some have used 106 or 85rd, but I wanted something with very little cut, so Im using 87MC. Since I keep my paint in very good condition, when I need to correct some minor marring I can use the 87MC instead of a more aggressive polish. Since I dont have a paint gauge I want to keep as much cc as possible.

PO87mc is a nice polish. I can use that with a blue pad on very soft paint with little defects and achieve very nice results. Don't forget about sonus sfx3 for a final polish - great results.

Always start with the least aggressive pad and polish 1st - white pad using both polishes then move to an orange using both polishes.
