4 Classic Cars, 15 Hours (56k eat a sammich)

Now that I'm rested and have the pics hosted, here are the pics from my detailing spree last Wednesday night/Thursday. My boss owns a warehouse with many classic cars (he usually takes a trip to Barret Jackson twice per year) and four of them went to auction last week. In between my regular appointments, I had to have these completed in one day. And of course, my only open times were between 6pm and 9am so I pulled an all nighter. I couldn't take too many "before" pics because it was dark out but some you get a peek at my workspace.

1st up: 1965 Volkswagen Bug with custom Peach and White paint

Been sitting in a warehouse uncovered for years. Needed gas and a new battery and a good detail. Had some rust coming up under the respray. Surface rust on the front bumper. Sold for $8,000 I believe.

Process:

Washed with ONR

Polished with RMG

Finished with VM

Chrome, Dressing, Glass done with Rightlook products

2nd up: 1964 Ford Galaxie 500

Paint was original and very soft/thin. I tested the RMG with a light polishing pad on the cyclo underneath the rear fender and it burnt through the paint in seconds. I ended up hand polishing the entire car with the 'Pink Moose' mixture. I was impressed! I started this at 1am, so my 'before' pics are in my garage. Hard to tell, but the paint was very foggy.

3rd Classic: 1974 Mercury Cougar XR7Another warehouse vehicle that sat for many years with no car cover and some very stubborn dirt! The paint is a metalic gold flake, but it seriously looked like a beige when I started. Original paint with layers of solidified dust was very tough to work through even with a cutting pad/compound combo. I worked on the exterior for a good two hours (and had to stop 3 times to wash the dirt from my pads!) before admitting defeat and finishing with the RMG and VM. It looked 10x better but I still believe I could have done better with more time and sleep. Started at 4am and completed at 8am. Sold for around $30k.

4th suprise: 1968 Mustang 'vert.

I was informed of the three others, but this one was a suprise (and the first they brought to me). Low mileage, original paint with numbers matching. Amazing condition. He just wanted it washed and 'cleaned up' but I convinced him to let me do what I do best. The results were very impressive. Same process as the others... ONR, RMG, VM. Sorry not many before pics, I was too hyped about getting this 4-car project started.

Hope you enjoy!

My years may be off a bit, but this was to the best of my knowledge.

Greg, email me your info and I'll definately keep you in mind.

I'm not looking forward pull an all-nighter again! I'm still sore a week later and I was absolutely useless for two days. The boss said today how impressed he was with the cars so of course I told him, "bring me more, that was fun".
