I just got some free supplies from a friend who has cleaned out his garage, the only two items that seem usable are 3M Mircrofinishing Compound, which I think is med. cut, and GS-27 scratch remover:rolleyes: For the 3M, should I use it? My car is still extremely filled with scratches, should I apply this stuff by hand, not the pc? Also is that gs stuff just a filler, should it be applied (if at all) like IHG.

3m should be fine, i would not do it by hand as you want to have an even amount of pressure while compouding. It can be done by hand i prefer machine, better quality.

GS-27 hahahahahahahahaha, where did your friend get that over the TV commercials. All marketing with that product, you can get meguiars scratch X for the same effect.

I don't know where:nixweiss , but I guess it's worth a try. i do have 3M imperial hand glaze, which I'll use over the gs27. But anyways, is the microfinishing compound (PN 39001) too harsh for swirls and scratches? This stuff looks very harsh, I'm thinking a pc will eat it right through the clear:shocked Also, should i skip FI-II and just use the compound, b/c if i'm gonna compound, why bother with the weaker stuff? :nono Anyone?

I used to use 3M Microfinishing Compound liquid in conjunction with a rotary to compound out color sanding (1500 grit) scratches and haze, followed by Finesse-It II F/M and it worked super in that application. I wouldn't use it for swirls or minor scratches, much too harsh. I'm using Perfect -It III Rubbing compound now in place of it, so ...I have some if you want it too! LOL. ( It worked fine, but a lot of splatter compared to the newer stuff ) Cheers.

I'm not finding Perfect-It III rubbing compound on 3m's site, and that's where I get all my 3m supplies from. A part number?
