3M backing plate

I have it, I hate it, but I didn't pay anywhere near $70. I think it was around $40 or so.

The only reason I own it is because I bought all my gear at the local body shop supply in town and they only had the 3M. It works so I haven't upgraded to anything else, but I really can't stand it.

I have one and love it. It contours to the body of the panel you're working. The thing I don't like is that I've ripped off the velcro backing on a few pads because of how strong the hook and loop backing is.

I have one also, but for less than half the price, the gloss-it backing plate is nicer. The gloss-it has a hook and loop velcro so your pad stays on much better.

that is the exact opposite of how I would describe mine :nixweiss , it is a flat stiff thing with a hard edge and if spin drying pads I constantly have to triple check the pad is ultra centered or it throws it off.

are there more than one? Mine is yellow, flat as a pancake and about 7" diameter.

I Have been looking for that answer for along time! I always wandered what backing plate people were using when i see them. I knew the yellow one was 3M. and I have the Megs W66 but i didn't know where the small ones came from!! Thanks!!!

Is that a common problem? I've never had a pad fly off..

Jeff, Either the gloss-it or Rubbish boys are cheaper alternatives for a 5" backing plate. For a 6" backing plate, Megs W66.
