Mothers day present. This Acura TL fell victim to a son who decided to wash her beloved car with a green scotch bright pad and sponge combo. Upon first inspection i was actually quite worried that he had scrubbed through the opal layer in the clear coat. The vehicle had a heavy layer of embedded dirt and grime making it almost a cream/toupe opal. Instead of the bright white of the areas he scrubbed off.
It was pouring out in the morning; I did not have an opportunity to take before pictures of the whole car. I had pulled it in, Washed it with ONR and then clayed it. After taping I proceeded to take these before shots. The areas with no shine are the scrubbed areas, not dirt. You can see here some of the initial color cast (taupe) of the car.
I need to give props to my wonderful light holder, mike. He does an excellent job. He wants you all to know he is available for birthdays and batmitsfas
Here is a 50/50 shot of the first picture above
Before
After (keep in mind this was just after compound phase, not final polishing.)
This is the hood after all the polish steps. For reference the steps were:
Schlegel #1 wool cut with 1z intensive paste x3 on the trouble areas, x1 on lighter areas
Green lc pad 106ff on the whole car
white LC 1z metalic
1z glanz wax.
another angle.
Outside photo’s in the afternoon sun.
Passenger side with pictures taken with the sun gun.
