3GB email account, anyone?

I didn't realize there was a problem with people filling up their 2 GB gmail accounts already. lol Why do they even give a limit? They might as well just say unlimted email. Just restrict the size of the email you can send and then offer unlimited space. Seems easy enough to me. They used to do this with cell phone minutes. They kept offering more and more free 'off peak' minutes until finally they just gave up and called it unlimited. Email needs to get with the program...

Well not quite jbg :) - Email is storage, disk space and that costs money. Reliable storage costs even more money (redundancy, backup, restore, uptime.) Free email has to limit what they can give away (and nothing is for free - they are selling all of your information). They have to put limits on it. If there were no limits then folks would be storing movies and mp3's and warez and whatever else they wanted - taking advantage of the provider (which might be just desserts since they are selling all my info). It's a catch 22.

Cell phones on the other hand - expect to see those rates drop dramatically - in the next few years it will all be internet based
