I did this car for a co-worker almost a year ago. He had a neighbor's detailer go at it a few weeks back and he marred the HELL out of the finish. So here I come in to do it over (sorry I don't have any before shots, i started at 6 a.m. and it was real dark out)

Used SSR 2.5 w/ an orange propel pad and another pass w/ a green pad

Followed up w/ Natty's Paste wax

he has an old beat up civic as his DD and he said this other "detailer" tried to polish spots of it out but said the paint was dead. He had tried the same thing but to no avail. So I asked him to let me do a little corner real quick and see how it comes out.

here is the trunk deck (you can see the spot I polished to the right)

Needless, he was impressed and a little pissed. He's anal like me and now he was upset cause he knows the car can look good and now he's gonna have to take care of it. He's a nice guy and always sits around asking questions while I detail and helping him out. I told him this car would be a perfect place for him to practice on. So I left him my equipment to practice on the civic. He called me about 8 hours later to tell me he was done. I'm gonna inspect it this week and see how he did on his own :)

BTW, did I mention this was an hour drive away, i spent 4 hours there and did it all for free  I like keeping customers happy to much :(

Excellent job. The 350Z looks very nice, incredible amount of flake.

That color is called Interlagos Fire, btw. It looks really awesome in the sun.

First off the Z looks great!! Is that a factory color or a re-paint? I don't think I've ever seen that color.

Second of all. SUPERIOR customer service move. Answering his questions and allowing him to use your equiptment was a very nice thing to do. In the long run you may lose one customer, as he may become a DIY'er. However, when people ask why his car looks so nice he'll tell them you taught him everything he knows. Voila!! Free advertising. Most people would be thinking too short term to ever make this move.

Oh, I actually don't mind losing customers to be DIY'ers. The next 2 details I have set up are actually guys who have bought all the equipment they need so they are having me come over to show them how to use it at a discount :) I like to teach.

But yea, I hear ya. No it's not a repaint on the Z. It's a stock color that was only on the first year, I wanna say it's Brickyard Red

WTH is Interlagos Fire???????? I like how they come up with these designer colors.....

Its freeekin reddish/purple with some Hearty Burgundy metalflake in it!

Yup...Brickyard was gone in 2003 (only one year for the color) and brought back with Interlagos Fire for 2006. IF seems to be more metallic.

They also got rid of Ultra Yellow, Super Black, and Chrome Silver. The black is being replaced with a Metallic Black and I believe the Chrome Silver is being replaced with a Liquid Alum color.

Great work BTW...

Here is the description on the new for '06 Interlagos Red from the Nissan website...the paint is a $500 option:

"Interlagos Fire Paint

Is it deep purple? A rich red or vibrant copper? That all depends on how you look at it. Interlagos Fire changes color depending on lighting conditions and viewing angle."

Too  !!!

That's great. Have you ever thought of maybe starting some sort of detailing school? It sounds like you would enjoy it and I can't think of any businesses that really offer that.

 Color and terrific job on it, paint looks superb!

Everyone once in a while, I will do a detail for someone who also wants to learn how to take care of their own car better so I don't mind giving them some tips.
