Had it since new and now at 33,xxx miles...driving down the road, no warning...something just goes wrong.

The car was in a rear-end accident about a year ago, but the insurance reccomended body shop said it was only cosmetic.

Anyways, driving home today from the diner behind my mom. She had to pull over because the car was fishtailing. I caught up and almost lost it. I could not believe how ugly this damage was. We were less than a mile from home, so we decided to do about 30mph and go for the finish. The tire squealed all the way home and this is how it sits until the AM when Caddy comes with a flatbed.

It looks like this on both sides, just worse on the passenger side.

:eek That doesn't look "cosmetic" to me, Sean!! :nono It's a good thing that you were so close to home & it didn't cause her to lose control!!

Keep us posted, I'll be interested to hear what they have to say about it.

Nice reflection on the white doors though ;)

Wow... that looks like the whole rear seperated from the frame.
Good thing she wasn't doing like 65-70 on the expressway, that could have been catastrophic.
I'm glad that your mom is OK.

Luv-N-It: Sure do. Either way the Caddy warranty or Body Shop warranty will cover this.

I know...this could've been a mess. We are pretty thankful everything is copesetic...Now, we just laugh at it. My dad is sending the pics to his outta state friends in the morning :D

sorry about all the trouble, but maybe it is time to trade that car in for a Japanese or German car. (just my opinion of course)

I thought Quad-Steering only came on GMC and Chevy pickups :dunno

Just kidding glad your moms ok.

Just curious, do you still have all the paperwork from the accident?

I hear what you are saying, however, the dealership may not be liable if there has been an accident. They have an out. HOPEFULLY, you have a good relationship w/them. Did they know the car was in an accident?

Luv-N-It: I'm saying that the body shop will be liable. They are State Farm approved and I don't think they'd like something like this on their rep. Either way, it has to do with Caddy or the body shop. My dad drives the car back and forth to work, maybe a couple trips, and maintains it reguarly...Something of this caliber should not happen to a 2 year old car with 33k on it :) ...I hear what you are saying though.

It will be pretty easy to tell if the problem was caused due to the accident, or a manufacturing problem. As long as you have a caddy dealer that you can trust, it will all work out.

If it is due to the accident, please do not let the body shop off of the hook. Make them pay, one way or another. If it runs them out of business, so be it. Bad operations should be run out of business.

Of course, this is just my opinion.
