2nd time out with my PC...

Well, I tackled the girlfriends '02 midnight blue Echo...which, as far as I know, has never been polished or protected...
After having less than satisfactory results on my SVT Focus with SSR2 and 1 with LC pads, I wasn't hoping for much...
I initially started with the white pad that came with my PC...and I cranked 'er up to 6, and applied a fair amount of pressure with the SSR2.
Well, it cleaned up no too bad, but still nothing like I've seen in the pic's of your cars! So I switch over to the LC orange pad, more SSR2 and more medium to heavy pressure, working the polish for, I'd say, 3 minutes, before moving onto the next area...
Am I being too critical? I would expect a finish devoid of swirls after the work I just put in! Granted, there are far less swirls, and the gloss is way up, but I'm not happy yet...direct sunlight, and the flaws show clearly.
Do I need a deeper polish? SSR2.5?
Or some Turtle Wax rubbing compound with the PC? Surely that would take me down to a fresh layer of paint!
Do I need to work the SSR2 longer and harder than 2X 3 minute passes per section? I figured the PC would be far less work!
Someone please give me some direction...
Thanks

it could be a couple of things. to much pressure can create swirls( I did that the first time I used the ssr1 & 2 ), product not being worked long enough, your passes my be to fast, your section my be too big. or maybe you need 2.5. Someone told me the best way is to divide the hood in 4 sections and try different methods and see what works best. Since I did that I have had great results with the method I found best when I tried it out.

Cheers
Chris

it's a dance - like the other poster said - too much pressure and you create swirls - and again like the poster said work in small sections.

the pad that came with the PC - yeah get rid of that. Use the LC pads - I think Orange is the one for correction. Work the product until it is dry and almost gone.

It seems like the swirls you are trying to take out are too deep for SSR2. That isn't a miracle product- not all swirls will come out with it. You'll need a more abrasive product if you still have swirls left. SSR2.5 will be perfect, IMO. DO NOT get any type of rubbing compund, that stuff is nasty. Get a picture up if you want more feedback.
