A Miracle Detailing
2020 Range Rover Velar - A Miracle Detailing - CQuartz Finest Reserve

Although a "brand new" vehicle it had been on the lot for many many months.
The client stated the "film" was caused by the "sprinklers" at the dealership.
I`m not 100% sure what it was, it appeared to be caked-on calcium deposits.
IMHO It was not sprinkler stains unless the water at the dealership was horrible.
It took a lot more time than expected, but it came out pretty sweet in the end.

Merlin:
So I assume that a water-spot/mineral remover would not touch this calcium-deposit build-up AND what you show in the "before" photo was calcium build-up and not what I would consider hard-water etching caused by water reacting with the minerals and forming a mild carbonic acid that actually burns into the paint as it sits in the sun. I also assume that this Land Rover came from some Florida dealer because many areas in Florida are notorious for having hard limestone/calcium (mineralized ancient seashells in the form of calcite) deposits in their water supply.
I see that you used Rupe`s Hi-Performance Cutting Compound and Rupe`s UNO Ultrafine Polish. Was this dictated by the mineral build-up or by the type of paint (clear coat) on the Land Rover, or both? How much time DID you spend on this process and what would you "normally" expect to take correcting/polishing such a vehicle? (Captain Obvious, go bother Sizzle Chest.. leave me alone with your incessant questions!)

Fantastic finish on another BLACK vehicle.
I am beginning to think that there is some type of terra-firma "black hole" (No inferred reference to Poorboy`s World product!) in your business that ALL black vehicles naturally gravitate to to be detailed by you.

It was interesting because the underside of the vehicle was almost solid white from this stuff.
IronX and clay bar didn`t even budge it. Normal decontamination process didn`t make a dent.
I tried a few different chemistries and the paint just laughed at them.
It came off with compounding, and in most sections it was like flaking off pieces of old fingernail polish.
Whatever it was it was on the surface. Once compounded the PTG gave normal readings (no surface loss).

The client stated it has been on the lot since last November! It had tons of swirl marks from cheap washing.

It looks better now...

Fantastic work and a stunning result!

Do they travel on `dirt` roads? Most of the maintained `dirt` roads in central and north Florida are covered with limerock, and I wonder if that is what is on the undercarriage and caused the deposits on the paint?

Thank You! That is very kind.

TMK No “dirt” roads. It had 300 miles on the ODO when I got it.???

Side Note: The new Rupes DA compound and polish works very well with very little (if any) dusting.

Correction:
Rupes DA Coarse High Performance Cutting Compound

Polishing:
Rupes UNO Pure Universal Ultrafine Finishing Polish

Their new pads work well too!
They just look like they come in a shiny "potato chip" bag. (GRIN)

I too just had a customer with a white Velar, how did you find that black trim to deal with? For me it was the most finicky black trim I’ve ever dealt with, and incredibly soft. I had to mist the panel and towel with distilled water so that it wasn’t marring as I removed product.

Hope you don’t mind a few of my pictures on here.

Nice work!

I didn`t find it that bad on this vehicle.

FYI - This is what the underneath of the vehicle looked like...THIS is what was all over the paint!

I`ll bite; how does the calcium deposits end up underneath a vehicle unless it is driven OVER the top of this sprinkler system.
Just looks weird.

When you say "looked", this is a past tense verb, meaning it did and you removed, or it did at the time you detailed it, but left it that way and the vehicle is out of your hands and into the owner`s.

No I did not do "underneath" the vehicle...but the paint was covered in that nasty, brick hard, contamination.
