This car belonged to a kid in the neighborhood. Body shop wanted $1000 for a new bumper and to paint it. His parents were making him pay out of pocket for it to learn a lesson. I decided to help him out. I had him come by and I supervised him and is friend in the prep. I had him supply the materials and I painted and installed it for him for free with his help.

Awesome man. That`s how I learned a lot of my fundamentals back when I was a young teen. My neighbors owned a body shop and they taught me how to sand, paint, buff. Brings back great memories.

Nice gesture. That right there is what people need to do more often. Help each other out:)

Curious too, what did it cost the kid in materials?

paying it forward ... hopefully some day he will be a position to help some one out of bind in the future :)

I`m not sure how much the bumper was. It was OEM so probably $300-$400. I think I got a pint of paint and it was probably $70. I honestly don`t think I charged him for the adhesion promoter, sealer or clear. If I did it was only like $20.

Nice thing to do for the lad. Your other repair/paint threads definitely show talent. I appreciate that especially because I have none in that area.

Yes indeed, xtremekustomz has skills! IME it`s a lot harder than one might think to get good results with DIY paint/body work.
