2009 ZR1 correction and prep

I did this ZR1 back in late December, and thought I'd share it with you guys.

This is a car I have been looking forward to doing for a very long time, as I'm a big corvette fan. It finally showed up and I got to work on it! Unfortunately....someone decided to buff the hood before it showed up at the dealer. I think a blind man could have buffed it better. Deep swirls, buffer trails, and holograms all over it. The rest of the car was covered in hard water spots. With some work though, it all came out and the car is perfect.

I gotta tell you, this thing is LOW! It took 4 of us to get it into the wash bay. There is a 2 1/2" speedbump entrance to the wash bay and pulling the car in was terrifying. With it turned sharply to the left we had LESS than 1/4" clearance on the carbon fiber gfx on the side! But we got it in and out safely. :)

I had a great time with this car. I think I put about 14 hours into it. I had probably 20 people come by to watch me work on it. The sales guys were making their calls letting people know it was here, so people were coming in all day to look at it. A few asked me to start it up and rev it, but that was a liberty I wasn't gonna take lol.

I feel very privileged to have done this car. Only two people were allowed to even sit in the car and to drive it. I was very happy to be one of them. I didn't get to drive it far, but I did get to drive it! And I also had the task of moving this thing through the main showroom and then into the Corvette showroom and park it 2 inches away from the glass wall. Can you say hair-raising?!?

*Note: I wasn't able to get any 50/50 shots or after shots following the correction unfortunately. One of my 500w bulbs burst and actually caught fire inside the light's housing. After that, the other one wouldn't work either. I was very lucky that the overhead light was enough to highlight the imperfections!*

All finished!!!

Thanks for lookin! ;)

Kudos to the dealer for calling you in to do it right! I just hope they don't have the porters wash it at delivery and mess up all your work. :hairpull

Great work!! My local dealership just got their first black one in. I went to look at it. I'm a HUGE Vette fan, but honestly I was thinking this thing was just going to look like a Z06 with a "c/f body kit". Boy was I wrong when I opened the door to the showroom. The ZR1 definitely has a commanding presence. It made the 2 C6s behind it look like peons. It just screams speed. Looks like it's doing 240MPH standing still. Awesome car, pictures don't do it justice!
