2009 Infiniti G37 not wanting to accept a correction

I have a black obsidian 2009 Infiniti G37 and no matter what this damn paint doesn't want to accept any type of paint correction. It has the crappy Scratch Shield Paint. The paint is so soft that when you remove polishing or wax residue, it leaves behind marring. Just light touches scratches it.

But what doesn't make sense is that when it comes time to do a paint correction, the clear coat is hard as a rock!! I tried two combo's and it never even made a dent in the swirls! I first tried Meg's M205 on a white pad and that did nothing. I next stepped it up to Poorboy's SSR 2.5 cutting polish on a white pad and that did nothing for the swirls either. Am I doing something wrong? I'm using my PC 7424XP on speed 5 and working slow and steady with about 15-20 pounds of pressure applied.

You don't mention the brand of your foam pads but usually, the white pads are more toward finishing pads and don't offer much cutting ability at all.

So, I'd switch to a more agressive pad like a yellow or orange pad. (more cut)

While Poorboy's ssr 2.5 should have enough cut I'm thinking it's cutting ability is negated by the softer pad.

Your M205 is the polishing/jewelling half of the M105/M205 combo with M105 doing the agressive work and 205 doing the final polishing/burnishing. I'm thinking 205 plus white pad doesn't have enough cut for you to see any changes.

So, if you get an yellow or orange pad (Lake Country) and use it with SSR 2.5, you should make a dent in the swirls. Then switch to 205 with your white for your final polishing.

Others will offer more product choices but try what you have first, then you can always move on with other suggestions.

Awesome reply man, I appreciate it!! I'm using Lake County pads by the way. I figured that a white pad would of been enough since the clear coat is super soft, but for some odd reason it's hard to correct. I heard this is common on Nissan/Infiniti clear coats. Their soft but hard to work with when it comes to correction.

I'm going to step it up to an orange pad then and check my results! Thanks!

I've had good results using super intensive and an Orange pad followed by nano and a white pad on a 2008 g35, a 2010 fx35 (both black), and a 10 g37x with light-medium swirls, RIDS. I've heard great things about menzerna 203 as well, I believe it is a little less aggressive than SIP, and maybe about equivalent to ssr 2.5.
