This was somewhat of a quickie job. I got the car Wednesday night and had them pick it up this morning. Stripped the hood, prime, wet sand, base and clear. Replaced headlights and for lights. Went over the whole car with HD Polish to remove oxidation. No correction was really done. Just shine it up a little. Applied Optiseal

xtremekustomz- I might as well just skip the "nice work!" comments from now on since that goes without saying where your work is concerned :D

How well did the paint match IRL (I can never tell over the intenet)? White can be tricky that way...

It was pretty good. The car had been taken to someone to buff last year and there were spots where you can see the underlying primer. Not sure how they removed that much material but they did. When the paint gets thin and close to the grey primer it will change the color as you know. I explained to the customer before starting the work that the paint will not match 100%. She had taken it to a body shop and they quoted her around $2000 to strip and paint the hood, supply the headlights and install them. They might have gotten a perfect match but at this point the whole car will be getting repainted. I think she will end up doing it in sections. Either way we got the first step done which was to keep the hood from rusting any more than it already was. If it were a side panel butted up against another side panel there would have been a slight variation but with it being a vertical panel it doesn`t even stand out.

xtremekustomz- Ah, OK...that all makes sense.

IMO that`s a great vehicle for her to get fixed up, I just *like* that generation of Highlander and doing it piecemeal oughta keep it from killing her checkbook.
