2006 Sonic Blue Ford Ranger !!!

Hey everyone, I did this car for a good friend of mine on Saturday, I'm not sure if you remember but I detailed his other car a while ago, his 2004 Procharged DSG Mach 1, here is the link to the thread, http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/83291-2004-procharged-mach-1-56k-warning.html

We think there was something wrong with the tune in his car, because he was running a built motor and the p1sc, but at the track a couple weeks ago, his car ended up blowing a nice hole in one of his pistons  So now he's getting a teksid block, CP pistons, cobra crank and rods, then getting everything cryoed, as well as upgrading his P1SC to an F1 :woohoo:

So as a result, he bought this 2006 Ranger for a daily driver while he gets everything set up for his mach. He brought the truck over and the previous owner had obviously parked it next to some sprinklers, due to the bad water etching...The only thing wrong with the car was really the etching, and some stains on the upholstery, but as you'll see I pretty much got everything out!

And finally, some pictures of the paint. Ford has really got their act together because this truck's paint was very nice. Compared to my 03, the orange peel on this car was extremely minute compared to my mach and the flake was just incredible!!!

Some pictures of the water etching, in the second picture you can see the upper portion of the hood still has some, I was doing 1/4 sections at a time...If you look at the lower light you will see the compounded surface

Sonic Blue really is a neat color. AJT looks incredible on it! Is this your DD or do you drive the Mach every day? Nice work!

Sonic blue is simply an amazing color. I have only seen it on the Stang, but now I can see that it looks awesome when done right on the Ranger.

Great job bro truck looks flawless.

My goodness, this looks like my 2000 Melita Blue Ranger. What year is this? Mine has the white gauges, but it is the Tremor Edition with a factory installed 550 watt stereo system. Beautiful work you did.

This is my friend's daily driver, he owns the Procharged Mach that blew up from what we think was some extensive detonation :sadpace:

I guess I should actually read the thread before I jump straight to the pics huh? Sorry for the stupid question. That sucks about your buddy's Mach. I've read that the mod motors dont like much boost. I could be way wrong, but I think that's what I've read. Most of my mustang buds are in good ole Pushrod 302s and a few have 289s.

Our modular motors (03-04 Mach 1) definately do not like much boost lol...Due to the high compression of the stock motor, 10.1:1, combined with cheap rods and pistons, if you supercharge/turbo a stock motor, you are likely to end up doing some serious damage. Before he built the motor on this car, he was running 8 psi respectively, and on a very conservative tune. When he pulled the motor (after putting about 5000 miles on it with the procharger) there were signs of blowby and detonation which didn't look too promising for running boosted applications on the stock motor for too long...

Although if you throw in some cp pistons, manley rods, cobra crank, and get everything cryoed, now thats a different story! F1 and 25psi ftw :idea
