You can easily evaluate your car's paint every time you wash. To do so, wash and dry your car. With clean hands, run your finger tips across the paint surface. It should feel very smooth, like glass. If it doesn't, you're feeling contaminants and oxidation. This is your indication that it's time to clean the paint using a good pre-wax cleaner or clay.

To determine if your paint has enough wax protection, rub a clean, dry terry towel against the hood or trunk surfaces of your car after it has been washed and dried. If you hear squeaking, or if the towel does not easily glide over the paint, it's because the paint is dry and needs feeding and protection.

Hi TID

I took a trip down to MD/VA to help my partner with this 2006 S350. The customer wanted a 1 step polish. The benz had never seen a detail, so its in really bad shape. It had lots of RIDs, dents, rock chips, and contaminates. The 1 step didn't get all the scratches and swirls out, it would require a 4 step detail for that. and still won't be perfect.
