2005 Cadillac CTS Correction - Aggressive Detailing

So this was a fun one.

The car had been over sprayed by a company painting the industrial buildings right next to where the cars were parked. Needless to say, It gave most of the vehicles a nice, white spotted coating.

The owner tried to remove the spray themselves, unfortunately making matters worse.

Thats when I was called. :)

I knew this was going to be a decent job to tackle. Overspray (which is very hard to see in the pictures), heavy swirling and the car needing just a good thorough cleaning as well.

So first off we started with some general cleaning using P21s Total Auto Wash.

It does wonders with removing the brown crud from tires.

Making sure the door shuts will look as good as it will outside.

The car was then foamed fully with Meg's Hyper wash using a PA foam lance.

Then on to the wheels using P21S Wheel cleaner.

Washing the vehicle with a natural sea sponge and CG Citrus Wash to fully strip the paint.

I then coated the car in Iron X section by section, letting it work into the paint to remove all the iron particulates that may have developed over the years.

The car was the dried using Cobra super guzzler towels and the Master Blaster.

After wards, I clayed the whole car with a 3M clay bar to remove all the overspray. This was a tedious procedure that took about 4 hours. Sorry for the lack of pictures of this step as I was so into removing the overspray, I forgot to grab the camera.

Here is what the bonnet looked like the next day in the sun after being completely cleaned and ready for polishing. It shows its true form.

I was excited for this as I had a brand new bottle of Menzerna FG400 to try out and figured this would be the ultimate test.

I did half the boot lid with a Flex 3401, Lake Country H2o Tangerine pad and Menzerna FG400. Several passes with pressure, then a few knocking down the speeds over the last few passes with little pressure.

I was quite surprised at the outcome.

Here is another 50/50 after one step on the drivers door.

After some time working the paint, I found that I absolutely love Menzerna FG400. I was actually able to one step this car into a beautiful finish easily.

I was really taken back by how well it worked.

After polishing the front grill paint and chrome by hand with CarPro fixer, I cleaned the paint with CarPro Eraser and applied a nice coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant.

Here are the final results.

CG Metal polish & Sealant
Gtechniq G4
Wolfs Nano Glass Sealant

Thanks for looking!

WOW, talk about a lot of swirls!

It looked like the finish had need neglected for several years and was in need of some heavy duty attention directed by the right person.....

Simply gorgeous! :bigups

Wow great save man. All you did for correction was fg400 and ht tangerine?

Yep. Used on a Flex 3401 at varying speeds for a total of about 5 passes (three correcting and two for polishing)

I really was amazed with this new polish. Great stuff!
