Big thanks to awhl63, he did a crazy job on my BMW today, literally a crazy job. Took him from around 9 till around 8:45. The finish is just out of this world. Big props to him and anyone who can work like that non stop without too many breaks.

Here is a link to the pictures, you do not need to register or anything. No worries.

I will ask him to post his process.

Props To Awhal63 For Detailing My BMW - exotiXboard

Props to awhl63 for a great job, and props to you for keeping that machine looking its best :bigups
I recently picked up a client with a sonic blue 545i, the lines on the 5 series Bimmers make them a very fun car to work with!

Yep, thanks, I'm not sure if this is 100% true, but from what i've heard BMW Jet black paint is some of the hardest paint to correct in the detailing industry. A few people have even opted for the Metallic black instead of flat jet black over it for that reason. Again, not 100% sure if this is true, but I wouldn't be suprised if it were.

I'm glad the car finally looks good and I can maintain. The original dealer I bought it from had some nasty hacks that swirled the paint up. :( *shakes his fist at Motorwerks BMW*

I will attest to the fact that jet black is one of the hardest to get right...I have owned two JB BMW's...I have spent a lot of time developing the process and products that make the car look good and smudge free

Please do share. Always interested in a specific process in case I run into one of these.
Thanks

I have found that with JB you have to start with the normal wash and clay...then I like to use a rotary to take out the swirls..this can be accomplished with a PC and a cutting pad but takes a while is all...the SWR that I like are SSR2.5 or Presta...the later of the two is my current choice...then once I feel that I have removed about as many swirls as possible..I polish with PB P-w-C with a PC and a polishing pad...next I like to add a glaze to fill in any minor imperfections that are left in the paint...this is done my hand to insure that I get the thin layer that I want.
I tend to like a pure sealant as the LSP...applied by hand...after its cured the process is removing it using a two MF towels with QD...spray panel wipe with one MFT then buff with the other...I work very slowly to make sure that I am picking up every thing..JB is unforgiving at this point for smudges clean MF towels..and buffing after the first pass is key...nature light is best but halogen works wonders as well...

As for paste wax...I like the Natty's red on JB but be prepared to so a cold rinse on the car or another wipe down the next day...the cure of the oils in Natty's makes the car look hazy / smokey looking...a S&W wipe down can cure this or a cold water rinse with a QD wipe down. The next day....this is the only charistics of JB that I have not seen with any other colors or maybe they are not as prevalent

Summary

wash and clay
SWR with the rotary polishing pad
polish PC polishing pad
glaze by hand
Sealant by hand
