If I get banned from Autopia it will probably be for posting one too many Click & Brags with this van. I don't like minivans anymore than anyone else on this board, but this van's paint is the bomb to detail.
I split this up over two days. I went a little overboard and this old body can't take 9 straight hours of detailing.
Saturday (cloudy and warm)- 9am to 2pm with no breaks.
Washed with Optimum No-Rinse (ONR) including wheels and wheel arches. The van was relatively dirty after two weeks with out a wash.
Clayed with blue Clay Magic. Did the roof, hood and front bumper, got very little contamination.
Polished with Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (SIP) using Cyclo and Cyclo Precision (Edge) orange pads. Got a little dusting and had to play with amount, but did the entire van with one side of the double sided pads.
Polished with Blackfire's version of 106ff using Cyclo and Cyclo Precison white pads. Really enjoyed the polishing. Stopped for the day with the hood, front bumper and driver's side done.
Took some pictures to show the polished paint before LSP.
Sunday (sunny and warm)- 8:30am to 12:30pm
Finished polishing with the Blackfire (106ff) doing the roof, tailgate, and passenger's side.
Cleaned the paint with Klasse AIO using the PC and a white LC polishing pad.
Glazed the paint with Danase's Speed Glaze (now Wet Glaze) using a gray LC finishing pad.
Applied the LSP with Optimum's Opti-Seal hand applied using a Meguiar's yellow foam pad.
Wheels- Opti-Seal
Tires- Poorboy's Bold and Bright
Trim- Poorboy's Trim Restore
Glass- Surf City Garage's glass cleaner (Can't remember the name
)
There are still a few defects in the paint. Polishing outside on a cloudy day makes it hard to get them all, but I am very satisfied with the results. I will add another layer of Opti-Seal in a week or two.
Enjoy the Super Bowl.
