I am new on this forum and been really excited about learning how real detailing works. Not just going to wal-mart and buying wax thinking your doing the right thing. haha. I have been learning as much as possible and this forum is a great place to do that. I have been waiting for the weather to be nice enough to pull my car out of winter storage. Everytime I have been home from school there has been snow on the ground, even in late april early may. Prolonging this detail much farther than i would have liked, none the less i had a lot of fun doing a correct spring detail and look forward to learning new tecniques and products to try. This is my first time posting on c&b, this is also my first real detail. I don't have a buffer (yet) so I did it by hand with a microfiber pad and a lot of elbow greese.

Process:

Wash with Z-7 x2

tire/wheel cleaner

steel wool on chrome (exaust tips and wheels)

tires Z-16

clayed with Z-18

alcohol prep-wash

Menzerna IP

alcohol prep-wash

meguiar's mirror glaze 21 synthetic sealant 2.0

Before: only had 1 or 2 washes after out of winter storage

i am friends with my neighbor and he does auto body work with insurance company and on the side restores classic cars. i talked to him about helping me buff my car, we took a look at what was actualy there and he said to first try it out by hand and see how much i could actually correct because i might be surprised and if there is any bad spots i couldn't get he will help me buff them out. well it turns out i was very surprised that i was able to correct almost the whole car. there were seldem spots that a little bit of elbow greese wasn't able to correct.

I didn't think IP was capable of touching GM clear, especially by hand. Impressive. Nicely done.

thanks, the more heavly "scratched" spots i was still able to greatly reduce imperfections but there are still some there that i will have to get with a buffer. the camera wasn't able to pick up the very small spots left behind. the lighter imperfections were able to completely eliminate though, by hand i was completly blown away as well.
