I hear a lot of good things about 1z glanz wax and polishes.

what is better for my 5 months old 03 Passat? is it the Metallic Polish (pink container) which is recommended for new cars with a very low abrasive level or the Paint Polish (greeen container) which is for oxidation , dull paint etc.

Any 1z fans out there?

Please advise,

Thanks:nixweiss

I really like 1Z products. For your application I would recommend Metallic Polish & Glanz wax. Metallic Polish has the least amount of abrasives and should be totally safe for new car finishes.

What you mentioned is a great combination; I've use it myself on my 02 Passat. You'll love how easy these products are to work with, especially by hand and they'll give you excellent gloss and protection. If you have any questions about the 1Z line, you should contact them via their website at www.1z-usa.com and click on the "Contact" link. Great, prompt costumer service also.

I've compared Glanz to S100 and the shine was same for both, whereas the S100 was slicker than the Glanz. I usually top my Glanz with Final Detail after washing to perk up the gloss and slickness though.

If you are looking at using the Metallic Polish and Glanz Wax, I would recommend trying the 1Z Perls Shampoo too. Cleans great and sheets water for less drying, plus it makes water bead like "pearls."

If you haven't made any purchases yet, check out http://www.detailersparadise.com/_S...212614010&CatID=796102003209582-1225212614019 they have 1Z polishes and wax on sale, not to mention a lot of the other 1Z products.

Good Luck and enjoy your choice of products!

Hey Macgirl, on your recommendation I purchased 1Z Perls Shampoo. This is great stuff! I also have used Glanz Shampoo and also like it very much. Thanks for your recommendation.

Hey Macgirl, Thanks for your thoughts and one more question.

What final detail are you using after waxing?

I have a quick detailer from Meguiars

is that something that would work?

Thanks

for a newer car in very good to excellent shape all you'll need is the Metallic and Glanz. macgirl hit the nail on the head with her recommendations. try the Perls Shampoo - you'll be glad you did.

hey macgirl, how'd the tiefenpfleger work for you on your lower bady panels of the passat?

adi_mitrea- While you're ordering, I'd pick up the Paint Polish too. The Metallic is VERY mild, and it's good to have something a little stronger on hand. The Paint Polish isn't too aggressive by any means.

Wow, I thought I got back to you (sonnydaze) on that.....I've been able to use it a couple of times this winter. I did notice a bit of streaking after one rainstorm where my car was sitting out it in for the duration. I think I had buffed it out but it may have been about time for another application. I'll just have to use it somemore when the weather gets warmer. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Macgirl, if you get a chance sometime try the Forever Black Tire Gel on your lower valances. Its water based .. lasts a long time and there is no streaking/running. It even covers the mars left by rocks that hit the valances in winter. I even use it on the textured lower grill of my 03. Its a little pricy but I only had to apply it 3 times all last year. It even covers up maring on the the odd angled plastic piece under the body under the rear door.

You all must as well wait for and buy the perls lackfinish spray. Supposed to be applied after washing with the perls shampoo and before the final rinse. It's awsome, and can also be used as a QD!

jgv, the 1z perls lackfinish spray is not yet available in the states. it's expected to be out before summer and the name will be changed, i think. michael at 1z-usa has spoken highly of it and i'm awaiting my chance to test it out before it goes out for public sale.
