Someone in the past went bezerk with a rotary polisher on my truck. It's black and it drives me nuts on a sunny day. I've read threads here about scratch x and getting a random orbital polisher. I dont want to spend $100+ on a polisher, but I dont have time to devote a weekend to removing swirls. I only have a single speed black and decker waxer (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000077CPT/103-4647054-2584649?v=glance). Is there any product out there that will work with this polisher and remove swirls? I know I am asking for a lot of of this polisher, but I just want a good looking daily driver, not a show truck. Thanks

If that is your equipment, I would try a rubbing compound by hand (like Farecla G6/G3 & G10), or go to a local detailer for the first job and keep up with waxing yourself afterward. If you wash and clay before you go, it should be relatively cheap.

Well I haven't used one of those polishers but you get what you pay for.

Having a black truck i would invest in a decent buffer . To get out your swirls is going to take alot of work , believe me. Even with a PC random orbital its a pain in the butt. You'll need a rotary buffer with multiple products and multiple pads for cutting , polishing , and finishing.

Another option is doing it by hand !! One panel at a time with something like scratch X . In your post you say that somebody went to town on it and screwed it up . Another idea is to have a pro buff it out say every 6 months and then you can up keep it with your polisher.

But I could be wrong . Its hard to tell without pics of the truck . If you have just holograms and no deep swirls then give your buffer a try . Do they sell an assortment of pads with it. try to get a cutting pad first .

Ok to sum it all up bluntlyIMHO the polisher isn't going to didly squat. Not enough power , speed or action to do any good on a black truck with a messed up job. Get a rotary or PC and learn how to do it yourself with the help of the members here or bone up the dolllars and have a pro do it..

Good luck and aloha

If your going to be doing it by hand use scracth x, then use a hand glaze of something that might contain fillers, all applied by hand. then use a sealant, and wax

I would say that it seems like a pretty good buffer with reasonable power for its price (4400 OPM); its only downfall is that it uses bonnets instead of pads. I'm in the same exact predicament you are, and I'm gonna get the same one and cut out the stock pad, remove the adhesive glue, attach some industrial strength velcro, and get some good foam pads. "Isinoh" at autopia.org had pretty good results when he did this to a Sears Craftsman.

Oh, and I would get the Total Swirl Remover and Finishing Glaze together (plus they each come with a free 5.5" pad) on wolfgangcarcare.com. The TSR is very powerful and versatile, according to reviews, and the FG would be used to take out any minor marring afterward. If you order them together, they each are discounted by $4, plus there's free shipping and you can get another 10% off with the code "pmba" during checkout. The two products together with two pads (orange and grey) end up totaling $23, no shipping. Great deal on sweet products.

Make sure the backing, for when you take off the stock foam pad, is ~5 inches, because the pads included in the Wolfgang deal are only 5.5" in diameter, and they wont fit if the backing of your WP900 is the same size as your 6 inch foam pad. Just a heads-up to be sure.
