Since your bro is in the military, paint those calipers for him! It's an easy 45 minute job - do either red or black.

I "think" that Cobra is written on them. It may be a bit of a chore to paint around that. Plus the car is now back at my parents place under a car cover. Good idea though.

Thanks....here is what I did for him while he was gone:

Engine had some internal sounds so.....

Then afterwards I detailed it for him and sent him some pics. He was very greatful I did all that considering the shop wanted $1000 to tear the motor apart and I did it for free and he got a detail out of it.....but he is fighting for our country so its the least I can do. :usa

First off, thank your brother for me, for serving for the country.

Second, thank you for doing this for him, it's a great gesture,

Third, if you go ahead and have the calipers powder coated or painted, I have a trick for you to use.

Put vaseline on the raised letters, COBRA.

Then go ahead and apply color to the rest of the caliper.

When that part is dried, remove all of the vaseline.

Then, put vaseline on the part around COBRA, where you have already painted.

Then, paint the raised letters white, or silver.

Remove all the vaseline, and enjoy!

Well if you get re-inspired to do it:

It is on the fronts in raised lettering, but this is not a problem whatsoever. Spray or brush your paint on the whole caliper...once dry or even tacky, take some 600 grit sandpaper and sand the paint off of the top of the word COBRA. It leaves a real nice, clean aluminum finish on the words.

When I did my first Cobra's calipers, I too wondered how I'd paint around it, then a light bulb went off and the sanding trick worked 100%.

Google is amazing! I was using it to google another web site and this popped up and I saw 1999 Cobra so of course I had to click on it! And what do you know! Its my car!!!! Crazy! I don't think the pictures do the justice for the work that was done! Car looked amazing! Thanks again!

So what was your procedure and products used?

Well, unlike most on here, I stick with the basics. I used just regular old turtle wax car shampoo, micro fiber mit, absorber, then manually applied some light rubbing compound to take care of the light swirls and surface scratches, applied 2 coats of wax, dressed the tires, and good to go. Only had to buff on a few spots. All products, besides the soap, were 3M or Megs.
