1998 4runner (First detail with PC... Sorry about the lack of sun)

I am just too proud and too anxious to delay posting my pics any longer. This was a long process and I am tired. I will revise this post once I get a day with more sun. I particularly like the reflections of the shrubs on the passenger side door and the fender shot which shows some nice flake.

Process:

Paint

1)Wash with dawn

2)Clay with Mothers OTC claybar and dilluted Z7 lube

3)Poorboys SSR2.5 with Exel yellow cutting pad

4)Poorboys SSR1 with Exel blue light polishign pad

5)Klasse AIO with Exel black finishing pad

6)Wash with Z7

7)Re-clay as Paint had some inexplicable grit (was silky smooth at one point?) I didn't used enough lube so the finish ended up getting quite marred and scratched... DOH!

8)Ran out of Poorboys so in a pinch, I used Meguiar's ScratchX on a green polishing pad

9)Wash with Z7

10)Z6/Z5/Z6/Z5/Z2pro/Z6/Z2pro/Z6/Z2pro/Z6/Z2pro

11)Finished off with freshly delivered Z8 buffed off with Pakshak ultrafine Microfiber towel

Windows

1)Wash with Z7

2)Mothers Claybar

3)Z2pro

4)NXT glass cleaner

Wheels

1)Mothers Claybar

2)Klasse AIO

3)Z2pro

Tires

1)Scrubbed with Meguires new tire brush and sudsy Z7

2)Dressed with Z16 tire dressing

Running boards:

1)Forever black cleaner concentrate

2)Redyed with forever black

Headlights/Tailights and chrome

1)Turtle Wax/Meguirs PlasticX polish

2)Z2pro

Thanks for the compliments. The whole process took roughly 4 weekends. The trouble was, it kept raining mid day and I would have to stop and then rewash and continue the next day. I'm also new to the PC and therefore slower. The whole 2nd clay mistake was also a huge setback. Oh well, live and learn.

PS - It rained last night and I had some amazingly tall beads this morning.

absolutely fantastic!!!!! It should be in a new car showroom!!!:bow

Wow guys. After putting in so much work and getting to know every imperfection, I start to second guess my results. It's nice to have some feedback and have my efforts feel worthwhile. At a later date, I may post some closeups of trouble spots (and seek your expert advice), but for now I think I will just kick back and enjoy.

What a stunning detail! And so much work was put into it!:bow :bow

I've never seen a old 4runner look THAT good before! It was well worth the effort.

Your whole vehicle is now "Zainoized"...haha;)

Great job again.

:xyxthumbs

Zaino seems to be quite the pain in the rear-end product. They have so many different #s, that it's difficult to keep up with what to use when. So many layers need to be applied.

nah no different than megs ;)

you dont HAVE to put layer upon layer...that is just an autopian way of thinking ;) not with jsut zaino with any wax or sealant...just one more and I will leave it alone.....ok just one more :)

Wow you really did a great job on the detail! you effort really shows! :xyxthumbs

oh P.S. I am not a zaino user except for their leather ocnditioner ;)

just thought I would throw that in there for kicks.
