1976 Porsche 911S

Hey i own a 76 Porsche 911S (model 930) and i have a problem with it... seems to me that after driving it really fast, it doesnt wanna start sometimes... actually it usually doesnt ever start after turning it off after a really fast drive. if i drive it slow and normal, it starts fine. However, i like to drive it hard and fast, so what seems to be the problem? I was thinking my fuel lines might be sludgy, or it could be my fuel pump.. but if my fuel pump was bad, then why would it work sometimes and not others? or how about the spark plugs? maybe cuz they're old then it's causing the car to malfunction a little? i'm not sure, but i need some help

Which model do you really have?



The title states a 911S, while you mention model 930. Those are two very different models.





I would go to a Porsche specific forum (Pelicanparts.com, Rennlist.com, etc.).

What no welcome aboard for me? Not trying to thread highjack.

I have been reading, learning, and practicing and can't really comment

on to much since most of the guys have way more experience then myself.

IIRC wasn't this a common problem with Porsches in the 70's? It was with mine.

It was something to do with a relay, but after 30+ years I can't remember which one. :think:
 
no its not overheating... and the porsche model name is the 930, but it was marketed at the 911S... thats how porsche does it..

No. In '76, Porsche made the Turbo Carrera and the 911S. These are very different models.





It sounds to me like a problem with the ignition or ignition coil.
 
IIRC this was a common problem with Porsches in the 70's. I know it was with mine.

The problem had to do with a relay, sorry its been 30+ years and and don't remember what relay. :think2
