1970 Corvette

Here is a little show of my dad's 1970 Corvette that I did last week. I only had the time to work on the paint, and it actually wasn't even washed, so the rest of the car still needs a little tlc to get it to proper standards.

I only had four hours to spend that day, so I concentrated on the hood and trunk area with Menzerna SIP on an LC orange low profile pad. Then I did the entire car with Micro Polish on a white LC pad. I'll go back to finish the sides more, but it looks 100% better. I finished up with XMT Glaze and a coat of Nattys Blue.

The paint really was pretty easy to work with. I thought it might be single stage, but it was a clear coat finish. It looked pretty bad up close, but didn't take too much effort to get rid of the swirls. It still has quite a bit of random scratches, but considering my dad won't be ocd about caring for it, it wouldn't be worth going that far anyway.

Half n' half on the trunk after SIP

And the afters. The pics aren't the best since it was pretty late and not much sun left.

Ahh, the classics

Good results...does he actually drive the car much, or does it stay inside?

Thanks for the comments. He does drive the Vette quite often, but he really doesn't like driving it a whole lot. It's too cramped, so he can't stand to drive it more than a half hour because his legs hurt, and it doesn't have an easy clutch. He actually wants to sell it and get a new Mustang GT convertible.

He has a 1939 Ford Woodie that he has been at a snails pace to restore (he's had it about 25 years). The black one you see is a 1930 Ford Model A two door sedan which I did a test on the hood. It's 30 year old black laquer that badly needs to be polished. And there is also a 1929 Ford Model A roadster.

Hmmm...maybe you should scoop-up the car from him. The early C3s are definitely keepers, especially the 70-71. Excellent wort BTW!!!!
