1960 Red Corvette 120+ pics

This car is probably one of my absolute favorites that I've worked on. On a previous trip out, all the swirls were removed and the car looked great. This time around though we decided to try and get a lot more gloss out of the paint. Previous owner had it repainted sometime in the 1980's, so there were a few limitations to what could be done with it. However, the car finished up beautifully again with no swirls, only a few RIDS, and a fantastic gloss.

Process:

-Foamgun with Zaino Z7

-Megs APC 3:1 wheels

-Clayed with Zaino Z18

-rewashed with Zaino Z7

-Menzerna Nano on white LC

-Menzerna Nano on black LC *worked for a long time*

-IPA wipedown

-ZAIO on Chrome

-Z5pro w/ZFX

-Z2pro

-Z6 wipedown

-Z16 on tires

It was overcast most of the day unfortunately, but lots of pics anyway!

I noticed some grime under the taillight lenses, so they were next to come off...

Showing lots of old dirt, wax, and grime.

I couldn't get my lens to focus the way I wanted, so it was really hard to do any 50/50 shots of the polishing, so I just skipped it. The sun popping in and out each minute just made it tough. So here are the finished pics!

One of the few RIDS left. Paint was thin enough we didn't want to get too aggressive with it.

Most of the smaller chrome trim was heavily swirled. With some very careful light polishing, some shine came back to them.

The paint on that car is beautiful! Nice job and great photos as well. I really like your attention to detail on the taillights!

Any engine shots?

Very nice job! That looks like a fun Sunday car to drive. It also looks like there would be a great view of the Mountains from the second story balcony of the house.

Awesome job. What did you use on the Torque Thrusts? The wheels came out great? Were they polished or chromed???

Wow, the car looks amazing!!

It's the little details like the tail lights that make a difference...

Can't go wrong with Zaino on red!!

Looks great!!

Great job, I agree with Rick, taking the time to disassemble certain parts makes a huge difference in the appearence afterwards.

Nice job on a great piece of history.

Thanks! Its a Nikon D40. I'm still learning how to use it to its full potential though.

Engine and interior will be tackled next time I'm out there, so I didn't get pics this time. The motor is the original 283 I believe.

Megs APC 3:1, and then polished with some ZAIO. The wheels are chrome.

Thanks, and thank you to everyone for the comments!!:woot:

Let me start by saying I hate you :). That car is ASTONISHING! And the work you've done to it.. well if I said "compliments it" would be an insult. Tiger himself couldn't top a par like that :)! Wanna line a few more of those, come to Hungary and trade places for a week?? ;)

Wow. Thank you man! I'd love to work on Ferraris as often as you do!:spot

The owner took it to a car show this week and just let me know he came home with a trophy! So I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out!
