10 year old White Grand Prix...NEVER clayed or polished

I've noticed a few of your details taking place at that Mobil station...do you have something worked out with the owner?? Looks like a super location for business exposure as you work.

Nice work as always.:) I have a few white company trucks to clean from time to time at my office and they're usaully so filthy I add some Meguiars APC to the wash water. This seems to help a lot with getting the imbedded surface dirt off. Might be worth a try sometime.:)

Vernon: Tell me about it. I did my absolute best to have EQUAL lighting for the befores and afters. I have a couple more shots for the Xtreme Detail Contest :).



blackbird: I finished and the owner wasn't there...Oh well, I will do a follow-up call tomorrow.



hadboosttroy: Pretty good stuff. I just like it because it's cheap and comes in spray form. I think Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover is stronger, but you can get Tarminator at pretty much any auto parts store.



Mike: Yeah...I have done a few there. He is my mechanic and we have worked out a bit of "one hand washes the other"...I send people his way, he sends them my way. He called me in on this job because the customer had a ton of work done. He said he'd get it cleaned up for her before she got it back...Not a bad concept IMO.



O4Cobra: I like it...It's pretty strong and is bio-degradable. I haven't put it next to Meguiar's APC, but it's definatley stronger than Home Depot (Zep) APC.



Thumper: After this job, I will definately go stronger on the next time around. APC definately sounds like a plan.
 
Little Update





I spoke to the owner of the Mobil station and he was very pleased with how it came out. He said she's (the owner) picking it up tomorrow and she'll definately be thrilled, but get this...



It was detailed 4 months ago!!! I was speechless when he just told me...I told him how much clay and cleaner I went through to get it to where it is...He was surprised as well and WILL be getting me the name of the place that did it...Can't wait to give em a call to see what their "detail" consists of...:rofl
 
Awesome Job as always Sean, I recently detailed a Suburban that was near the same boat. Owner started off by stating that it was pretty good and only needed "A Little Work", then complained when I quoted my price saying he had it completely detailed 6 months ago for $150. 7 hours of backbreaking work later i was finally finished...never seen paint in such poor shape. It hasn't taken me that long to do anything since I started detailing.



Gotta love the clean white on white look too now that it's teeth have been cleaned!!!

Huge improvement, Sean! I still can't get over how nasty some people let their cars get. Right now, I am working on my neighbor's Regal when I have time. She is out of town until the 22nd so there is no real hurry. There are scratches, scuffs, spider swirls, light rotary swirls from Car Max prep (she bought the car about a year ago) and it probably hasn't been washed in months. Just QEW washing and claying it took about 90 minutes. I've gone over the car with DACP and #80 so far and still may go over it once more with #80 before final polishing. As bad as this car is, it isn't even close to that Grand Prix and I don't have to do the interior...and I forgot to get before pics.



The job you did on the wheels is especially impressive!
 
i cant say enough about you sean! what a turn around! i thought those rims were silver at first! man, that seems like a really tough job..... how long did u spend total?

Scott: Sounds pretty close to this one. If I had the products and they were paying me appropriately, I would've ABC washed, then clayed to remove anything left over, wetsanded the whole car, wool pad and compound, menzerna polish, and #20. It REALLLY needed it, but I'm happy with how it ended up.



Still can't get over how much time I spent on the rims. :(

Sean, great transformation on her car, it looks great. 4.5 hours to me is a great time for the change you made to her car. I don't know if this is PC but if its okay, would you mind telling me how much she is paying to get her white back? I'm detailing on weekends and I'm trying to get an idea what to charge when I come up against a car in pretty bad shape. I'm happy with my other pricing structure. Thank, Wes

I charged $150 since I dealt with the owner of the station. He has gotten me plenty of business and was picking up the tab on this one. I would usually charge $180 for this type of job and upwards if I wetsanded/compounded it. For more info, click "WEBSITE" under my post to go to my website.
