10 year old White Grand Prix...NEVER clayed or polished

No walk in the park on this one. I really had my work cut out for me today. The interior wasn't much of anything. Most every stain came out of the seats and carpets minus the driver's left foot rest which had serious wear to the fibers. My final interior processes were:

-Oxy/APC mix for carpets, mats, and seating

-PB APC (10:1) to clean all vinyl and plastic

-Adam's VRT to dress all vinyl and plastic

The exterior was just hell. It barely looked white when I pulled up. The paint was severly stained and lacked any gloss. All I saw were contaminants, fallout, and etchings everywhere. The car was definately an outdoor car and had never been clayed or polished. I spent a LOT of time going at each area of the exterior detail and when all was said and done, I was happy with the outcome. The only way for a complete fix on the other problems would be a repaint.

For the rims, tires, and wells, I did the following:

-PB APC (10:1) on all with full agitation after 60 seconds, then rinsed

-Tarminator in the wells, waited 2 mins, then agitated

-4* Wheel Gel on rims/tires with full agitation after 30 seconds, then rinsed

-PB Clay on rims and painted parts of wells with soapy water lube, then rinse

-PB Spray and Rinse Wheel Cleaner on rims with 45 second dwell time, then rinsed

-BnB on tires

-HD (2:1) in wells

At the end, there was still some etched in dust that was never coming out, but the rims looked much better.

More in a few...

For the rest of the exterior, it was no easier. I washed the car twice initially, pretreating the lower areas with Tarminator. After 2 washes, 1 FULL CLAY BAR, a rinse and a dry, the paint was still stained. Yes 1 ENTIRE clay bar...The car had so much fallout and rust dots I thought I'd never finish...Usually I clay a car in under 30 mins...I spent about an hour on this one and there were still a couple spots that WOULD NOT budge. My final processes were:

-Mother's Gold Wash x 2

-Tarminator to treat lower panels

-PB Clay with soapy water lube (lots of time on this area)

-#80 with LC Wool Pad on horizontal surfaces

-#80 with LC Polishing Pad on all surfaces

-#20 by hand on paint and windows

Enjoy!

wow nice job Sean :up that has to be like 1000% whiter in color. Painted wheels left go for a long time can be big trouble...where they clear coated? did #80 on wool with a rotary (I assume) do a pretty good job for you?

D3mon: Nope :p...I put all of the owners stuff in the trunk except that. I felt that when she came to pick it up, it wasn't there, something would just be wrong :nixweiss .

srtchad: Yeah the wheels were clearcoated. #80 with the wool did a nice job on the etchings, but obviously left buffer marring. Following up with the polishing pad proved to be successful.

Thanks everyone :)

[Rob Schneider] Holy Sheet! [/Rob Schneider].

I wouldn't have guessed the wheels were ment to be white!

How cold was it? Do you have feeling in your digits?

Wow, what a transformation, I bet your customer really appreciated that job! Its very apparent how hard you have worked on that car, that is really impressive. ***** = 5 stars :)

Great transormation Sean. I never would have guessed the wheels were white in the before pics. I briefly had a 96 GP and the wheels were not painted - thankfully...I don't think green wheels would look right.

The paint in the before pics looks like it has yellowed. Your work continues to impress!

very nice... it went from some junky looking car to something I wouldnt mind driving around. It looks really nice now that its very, very white.

too bad the lighting isn't better or that could be a extreme detail contender for sure!! ****, i'd enter it anyway. great work!
