07 328i, jet black, corrected and coated with CQuartz UK - Pinnacle Auto Detail - CT

This 2007 328i was recently purchased by its owner and was definitely in need of a serious detail. The previous owner had stopped driving the car about six months prior to selling it and parked it under an oak tree. Needless to say the paint was lifeless, swirled up and heavily contaminated. Since this is jet black BMW paint (easy to marr) we decided to go with a two-step correction at around 80%+ correction rate. Some of the defects in the paint were very deep and it wasn’t worth sacrificing more clear coat to remove them. To protect the paint and help the owner keep it clean with less effort and a lower chance of wash-induced siwrls we decided to go with CQuartz UK.

The overall process was as follows:
• Tri-X soak
• Rinse
• ONR wash
• OPC @ full strength for wheels, tires, wells
• Clay via clay magic blue
• M205 via Optimum MF cutting discs & KBM (all compounding and polishing via Rupes 21 & 75E)
• M205 via Lake Country black foam finishing pads
• 2x Eraser wipe down
• CQuartz UK
• 3D Thick Dressing on tires, 3D Ultra on wells

Afters, sorry about the pic quality, it was dark by the time I finished up and the next day when I went back for pics it was also sprinkling and overcast, so a few shots in the garage were all I could manage:

As you can see in this shot of the trunklid under an LED spotlight, some of the deeper RIDS remained, along with the etching in the clear. Still, a huge improvement was made in the appearance of the paint and the owner wasn’t interested in perfection.

Mike -
Beautiful work - awesome clarity, incredible gloss !

What a beautiful balance you were able to achieve with Meguiars M205 - great job !!!
It is very obvious that the M205 and a Black Finishing pad really amp'd up the gloss/clarity to an extremely beautiful level - Wow !

And to think, its going to stay that way for a long time with the Coating !

You killed it !
Thank you for all the hard work, pics, write up, and post -
