A friend's wife is a vet who uses this thing as a dog hauler. They are getting ready to sell it, and wanted a quick spruce up beforehand. It has about 75k miles on it, so it's seen some use. Plus, there was more dog hair in the hatch than I've ever seen before. The whole thing took about 16 hours, a good 4 of which were just vacuuming the hatch area.

Interior process:

Vacuum

Surf City Garage Dash Away on all surfaces

Folex isolated stains, Megs APC+ with LGM all carpets. Carpets got APC+ 10:1, so did rear mats. Driver and front passenger mats got it 4:1.

Megs Glass Cleaner on inside windows

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the carpets and mats as well as I would have liked. I don't know if it was my technique or the LGM, but these were the best I could do in the time I had. Also, the stains on the driver and front passenger seats were SLOWLY coming out with Spot Shot, so I gave my friend a can to use.

Unfortunately, it was a dreary day for pics. Thanks for looking, and any comments or criticisms are welcome. :fear:

Looks a whole lot better than it did. She might even be our vet. Hey, I dress the running boards on my 'Burb. The black needs to be black if you know what I mean. I see you still had snow in your neighborhood too. There are still little patches here and there today. I know a guy with a privately owned steam cleaning truck in H'ville who does cars if you ever need him. He did my Suburbans carpet for $20 (I felt like a thief) and my daughters Neon carpet and cloth seats for $45.

Thanks for the kind words. The owner works at North Meck Animal Hospital, so you probably do know her. And thanks for the tip about the guy with the steam cleaner. Until I get one of my own, that may be a good guy to know.

BTW, I'm right on the line between H'ville and Concord. Our yard is free of snow, but those guys across the street still have some. Unfortunately, their houses block the sun for most of the day, so it's taking it forever to melt completely.

Hey guys! I'm just south of Raleigh, about a couple of hours from you. Hope all is well on that end of the state. That 4-Runner really looks much better...no doubt a great case of negligence! Great job!

mikenap- Woo-hoo, a dog-hauler makeover! Glad to see this one posted.

Nice work, and even if you're not thrilled with how the interior came out, I bet it at least smells nice and, uhm...neutral.

Oh, and I'm dressing the runningboards on the beater-Tahoe too. Much as I prefer an LSP-based approach (like on the Yukon), on some vehicles the dressing is the way to go.

Yikes, four hours of vacuuming in the hatch  Maybe they oughta get a cargo mat or a hatchbag or something for the next one.

Ya know...all in all, IMO that wasn't all *THAT* bad, considering what it was used for (by normal, non-Autopian people). If you could get them to let you do quarterly/biannual details you could probably keep the next dog-hauler pretty decent.

Thank you! Everything down here is fine, if a bit cold.

Thanks Accumulator. Actually, they DID have a cargo mat but they pulled it out before leaving it with me. I saw it before they dropped off, and it was a lost cause. They have a couple of long hair dogs, and one wire hair. Guess which one had the hardest to remove hair...:mad2:

It really wasn't too bad. At least they USE their SUV for sport and utility, unlike most. And I believe they're looking for a Tahoe as their next vehicle, but she will be offering mobile veterinary services. If they don't stay on top of cleaning that one, I want no part of it! :chuckle:

mikenap- If they do go with a Tahoe, suggest that they look into the "Hatchbag". IF there's any way to talk 'em into one....I can say from experience that that thing makes the whole dog-hauler situation a completely different ballgame. Given the things that could come up with a mobile vet business, man-oh-man could it be money well spent!
