04 explorer

Detailing NY

New member
I am looking for some cool items for my new car. I got bored and went out and got a 2004 Ford Explorere XLT.

I want to add some new toys & wheels.

Found some good sites, does anyone have any good sites to give me.

Thanks

no pics yet, the dealer thought i was crazy.

I told him i want the vehicle just the way it was, no removing stickers, no washing, i did not want them to even touch it.

i told the dealer if they wash it, then i wont sign the papers so it better come to be dirty.

I picked it up in the rain and it was so dirty i could not wait for it to stop raining so i can detail it.

info on car

I got in it Bright white, with privacy glass, and tinted front to match. grey leather w/ 3rd row seating. i am looking for wheels now. i may do a chrome exchange for the wheels.

I detailed the car last weekend and i got a reflection from my white, better then most non-autopians get with black ;)

i will post pix soon,

What ever happened to Overlander? Wasn't that the name of the large-scale off-road accessories outfit? I was going to recommend visiting their site but it's a good thing I checked first. "O" something, at least...

Keep the grill--replace the door handles with body-keyed handles. It'll save you on tape costs.

I would keep the stock wheels, but give it roughly a 1-2" lift. Not enough to look like a swamper vehicle but enough to let it stand out. Also, add some BF Goodrich AT's that are 1" larger in diameter and remain flush with the body. You want specific suggestions--I got your freakin' specific suggestions!!

If you don't want to go the roof rack route, add a hitch for racks for your toys (skis, bikes) and possible boat.

Also--you have to throw the Cobra CB somewhere accessible and a Wilson 1000 antenna on the roof--if you are a road tripper, that is.

Even if you do nothing, that really is a sweet ride. Enjoy it:xyxthumbs

Awesome ride you got there! I'm in the market myself for a larger vehicle as my family has grown! Married with 3 babies....2 are human and the third is my business!;)

Love the truck! Excellent Detail!

What do you use on the tires to get them so damn wet?

I go to school with someone who has the same truck in black. He has a Billet Grille, 20" Chrome Wheels, and Flowmaster Cat-back Exhaust. Nice, simple mods, but it just sits as such a "tastefully done" SUV to me.

If you do chrome rims, I'd paint the mirrors, door handles, and roof racks white to match and get chrome running boards.

That would look PIMPIN!

OK, here is what i am thinking. Autopia can help make up my mind.

I can get the same wheels i have now in chrome. Which would save me some money as i won't need new tires.

or

i could get a set of 18 with new tires that will make the car look bigger but may screw up the ride a litt.e It cost a lot more as well.

not sure which way i want to go right now. I am dropping some money into this truck to quick. I just ordered navigation for it as well.

I am not going to paint the handles and mirrors because they are textured and it will not look right. I am going to go and get the painted handles and mirrors, it will look much better.

As for getting the wheels so wet, I use stoner trim shine and soak the tire. This is a wheel we did today.

first we cleaned the rim & tire.

then we just clean up the wheel, and it's done. Just needs about 10 min dry time when doing it this way. That is why we wash the car, then do the tires, then continue to detail. this way by the time we are done the tires are dry
