"Luck" Residue of design
This is my Boss' 01 Explorer, This vehicle is driven off road regularly(camping, Hiking and such) so I did'nt waste my time doing much paint correction. This vehicle also has some rust issues that I am going to repair(without the use of Vaseline LOL) I will show pics of rust to be repaired. I thought the first step should be to clean the vehicle up to get him excited to do the rust repairs. My process was as follows..

wash with Eagle One wash concentrate

clay with Clay Magic Blue, using wash concentrate and water mixture as clay lube.

wash again

tape off

polish hood and front fenders using Makita rotary with 8" green edge 2000 light cut polishing pad and Poorboys world SSR2.5, I had a hard time with the rotary as it was my first time ever using one so I did the rest with my Cyclo and medium cutting pads and SSR2.5

LSP.Poorboys world EXP

the trim was cleaned and treated with Mothers Back to Black.

Cleaned wheels and wells with Blue Coral wheel magic.

Wheels polished lightly with SSR2.5 and 4" polish pad on the rotary and then topped with Poorboys world wheel sealant

wells dressed with No Touch non foaming type tire shine

This vehicle was very badly neglected and was probably never waxed. There was so much IFO on this paint that it took 4 hours just to do the claying.

Is this the same boss who stood you up a while back? If yes, I would have left a half used jar of vaseline under the front seat for his wife to find. Let him explain that it was there to fix the rusty things. :notme:

Same boss, I've been busting his chops about the Vaseline for over a week now. He is just happy that he feels like he's driving a new truck. He's got a good sense of humor.. Thanks to all of you for the replies. His brother was there while I was working on this and said that it looked like I repainted it and asked how much to do his Pontiac Aztec.
 
Very nice how hard was it to get into those rims with the 4" pad .Is the blue coral from a local store ??

It was rather easy to get into the wheels with the cyclo pad on a 3 3/4" backing plate on the makita, The blue coral came from family dollar for $3, Thanks for the compliment.TD

thanks Steve, The 8"pad on the makita was a little too much for me on my maiden voyage with the makita. Next time I am going to give my LC wool polishing pad a try. The foam was very grabby.
 
Most excellent turnaround on the Explorer. The wheels came out great.

4 hours on the claying - WOW... Talk about the need for Advil.

It looks like it had never been WASHED!!!!!!!

And those Ford Exploders are famous for BLACK BRAKE SYNDROME on the front wheels... My wife always says jokingly..... "Why does that truck have black wheels on the front and silver on the back?:lmfao

Nice transformation. He had to be thrilled.:yay
 
since he's the boss he gets the parking spot in front of the building. He does'nt fully understand the dynamics of tractor trailer brake dust on a white vehicle and parking in a special parking spot 10 feet from a hill on a busy interstate highway with trucks hitting their brakes right behind his vehicle all day long. Not to mention the importance of washing and applying an LSP.
