Jump Start Your Mobile Service, Orange County CA

Hey guys. I have some weekly service detailing contracts I'd like to subcontract out to a responsible and high quality detailer in Orange County CA. I'd like some time to concentrate on other aspects of the detailing business (product sales/ exotic and show car detailing). If you are...

Removal of super glue from paint

I have never encountered this in my business. But a friend in the UK seems to have gotten superglue on his vehicles paint. The stuff has dried and has been on his paint for about a week now. What have you guys done in the past to remove this type of glue? thx SC~

Business insurance, who is your carrier?

Hey guys. In a past thread about insurance I noted that I had a really huge insurance policy in order to meet a local land developer/owners requirement to do business in his lots. I don't think this business is materializing at a rate to make my $4k insurance policy worth the cost. But...

    SSR1 or Professional Polish

So which is the milder polish? The bottle of Pro Polish I have seems to be very abrasive. It seems grittier (rubbing between fingers) than SSR1 and SSR2! But the label lists it as a preceeding step to using a final glaze or wax.

    How I get my business...

So how do you go about finding new clients? After seeing dozens of detailers in my area going through the same exact motions to get themselves business (putting cards on cars, handing out brochures, visiting offices, etc...), I sat down and figured a few ways to access customers that these...

Buying an existing Mobile Detailing business?

Just this week I was approached by a guy who has been in the mobile detailing biz for about 20 years in my area. He recently decided to sell his business so he can be free to move out of the state. He has a VERY solid client base, some of which have been with him for over 15 years. He does...

    Saleen went through the swirl-o-matic

And the owner called me to straighten it out for him. I normally deal mostly in import cars (ie...Italian/German/Japanese). But since my business caters mostly to car enthusiasts, I do occasionally hear from folks who own American iron. Is there anything I need to look out for when...

    Waterless wash consulting/training

Our local water code enforcement dept has been working overtime recently. They busted a few local dealerships for allowing waste water from their weekly lot wash/maintenance to get into the local storm drains. So they are no longer allowed to wash the cars on their lots without investing in...

Possible marketing tip to find new customers

Hey all. Does anyone market their services directly to apartment building staff? Out here, most of the high end apartment complexes are happy to distribute my marketing material for free to all new residents. They include my 4x6 card in with the new resident 'welcome packet'. That gets my...

Washing large SUV's and trucks...what do you charge?

I have recently begun doing business in a neighboring town. And the mix of individuals is a bit different from this town. The bulk of these folks still have lots of money to spend on detailing services, like my town. But they tend to drive large SUV's and trucks instead of BMW's and MB's. So...

    mobile detailers and credit cards

Hi everyone. This is a question for legit mobile detailers (ie ones who have tax id/dba/etc). Do you accept credit cards as a form of payment for your services? If yes, how do you accomplish it? Do you write the numbers down and charge them at the end of the day? If you don't accept credit...

    Marketing...what would you do?

I have a few hundred to market with this month. I can spend it on one of three things... A. Direct mailing of 1000 4x6 cards I have. B. 4 weeks of newsprint ads in a neighborhood paper that is sent to 20,000 households. C. Rent a table at a local business event that will draw about 10k people...

Better Business Bureau...worth it to sign up?

Hi everyone. Today I got my call from the BBB. I recently submitted a bid to detail/maintain a fleet of 25 cars. Undoubtedly they called the BBB as part of their proposal evaluation. Since I am a relatively new business (and since I try really hard to keep people happy), they had no nothing...

Mobile detailers. Washing wheels with no/little water use

So how do mobile detailers wash wheels without using a pressure washer and water? I think the process I use takes too long to clean wheels. How do you accomplish this task? Here's what I do... I use 3 rags, a diluted 10/1 solution of Simple Green, and about 10 oz of water. One rag is placed...

EPA Clean Water Act: Mobile Detailing

Does your local government enforce the Clean Water Act? It's a law everywhere in the US that prohibits businesses (including mobile detailers) from being able to just dump their waste water into open sewers or drains. ie....are you required to reclaim your water or make sure that water does...

    What do you charge?

Lets start a list. It'll be helpful for people like me who are still trying to solidify a pricing structure for their services. So... 1. What do you charge for a wash, wash/wax, and for an ultimate detail? 2. Where do you live? 3. Are you mobile or do you have a store front? SC~

Cleaning cars in the OC! (SoCal!)

Hi everyone. I've been haunting your forum for the past few months trying to bring my detailing knowledge back up to speed. And I finally decided to register/post tonight! Here is my story.... When I was younger (18-20) I had a small auto detailing company that specialized in cleaning the...
