    Clearcoat peel/chip

A silver 08 M3 came in the other day asking if we could fix a silver-dollar-sized 'hole' in his clear coat. It was obvious clear coat failure but the rest of the car looked stellar. I doubt this was a typical rock chip as it was very far toward the back of the hood. Is this something that i can...

Foam cannon for low GPM 1500 psi PW?

My autogeek foam cannon works great in my gas powered 2500PSI, 5GPM pw, but when I attach it to my electric one which is only 1500 psi and about 1.5 GPMs it doesn't foam up as well, is there a better choice?

    paying employees

Have a theory on paying employees $30.00/day for just showing up, then 10% commission per invoice on completed gigs. I'm just thinking that the $30 would motivate them enough to get to work, even if they are sitting on their phone all day until a car comes.

ts|s Detailing: 2013 Camaro 1LE, Dealership Rescue Mission

The owner of this vehicle was very unimpressed with the dealership's $1800 prep package. Yes, I said $1800. The package included dealer installed swirls and the sloppiest leather conditioning you'll ever see. The owner argued the price out of the purchase agreement before bringing the car home...

if you build it, will they come?

There are a lot of new developments in my area, most of them are retail/restaurant zoned. How does one go about procuring a shop? and as the title states, will a shop bring customers just because it exists or would there need to be significant advertising done? Does being in/around new...

    flex cord is acting up

Sometimes my flex da will shut off if I bump the cord where it meets the body, I then have to giggle the cord or twist it a few times until it works. This happens frequently during a pass and I've since just given up on the machine., seems like an easy fix, but would like some pointers

BFWD on Collinite 845 on 205 = fail?

a few months ago I bought a black silverado, polished it to mirror finish (m105/205) and topped it with collinite 845 via DA. I put the 845 right on without doing a complete alcohol wipe of the whole truck. I noticed some oily streaking as days passed and decided a wash later to put some BFWD on...

best approach to a 350,000 mile 88 BMW engine

I have a long time customer who for the first time ever wants his engine cleaned up. Last I had a look under the hood, it was a mess, lots of dust and a jumble of wires etc. This car is an all original, daily driven 88 BMW 3 series drop top. I'm very apprehensive about this gig. Can anyone give...

    Touchless car wash FAIL

I was gassing up the detailing rig and happened to notice a dripping wet, very new Infinity being wiped off with the gas station shop-towels that you pull from the garbage bins. I handed my card to the owner and said "you might incur a few less scratches utilizing my professional touch." The guy...

    Anyone offering a low-budget package?

I think that high gas prices are negatively effecting my customer's willingness to have their cars serviced. I offer some rather complex packages, even my 'low end' (stage 1) is comprehensive and comes with a heavy price (175/car, 195 SUV). I always wanted to appeal to car-savvy individuals and...
