    Red Z3M Coupe

This was yesterday's quikie. The owner is selling it so didn't want to go crazy with it, he just wanted it looking better. For it age ('98) and mileage (73k) it's in really good condition, with only the customary stone chip here and there and a tiny scratch on one of the rear arches. Other...

Saturday's "quickie" detail - Toyota Surf

A friend of mine's selling his Toyota Surf and wanted to tart it up a bit to aid in the sale. He said there was no point in going overboard, so we didn't! It got: EXTERIOR: Hyper Wash Safe D-Greaser to tyres and arches (Wheels got a quick P21S, but they're knackered so not much point...

What dilution ratio for Wheel Brightener?

Got my WB this morning and was wondering what dilution ratio people use, considering Meg's give options of 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1. I'll mainly be using this for neglected wheels as I use P21S for ones that aren't in bad shape, so what do people recommend? Shall I just go for the strongest to make...

Next project - 1960s Humber Sceptre

This car, whilst oxidised badly, hasn't got a spot of rust on it. I'm already looking forward to working on it as it's something totally different (metallic single stage). Let's hope I can get it looking good again! Ben

How to proceed with really, really soft paint...

The battered old Merc I'm working on at the moment seems to have paint no harder than cream cheese, which poses a slight problem - I can't touch it with a towel without marring the finish. Where does one go from here? I've got all the swirls and marks out with a combination of #83/polishing...

OK to wash MF's in Woolite?

Well...is it? I can't see any mention of fabric softeners. I was going to mix it up and use it as an interior cleaner, but I really can't be bothered as #39 and APC are doing such a good job anyway. Ben

Yuck - look what's just turned up for a detail...

:scared: This is going to be fun...NOT. A good challenge though! 1998 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel Estate - obvioulsy owned by people with dogs etc due to the amount of hair in the damn thing! Will post "afters" when it's done! Ben

    Bmw M6

It's been a while sine I've posted any pics as my PC with my photo editing software crapped out, but we're back up and running now! Brand new car, freezing cold, dull light and I couldn't get round the front to take pictures from there - hence they're a bit poo. Oh well! Hyper wash #80...

    Detailer in the Glasgow area?

An associate of mine has a client in the Glasgow area requiring a detailer as I'm not prepared to travel that far. It would be for a Carbon Black M3. Please PM me or post here if it's the sort of thing you do and I'll forward your contact details on to him. Thanks, Ben.

    Croftgate products?

Anybody ever heard of these guys? (http://www.croftgate.com). Was browsing a few car mags and saw their advert in the back of Octane magazine, which seems to be targeted at the high end of the market. Ben

    #21 sample

Has anybody got some #21 that I could buy as a sample? Quite happy to send a bottle for it to be put in, but would like to try it before I buy the large 128oz bottle. I would buy the 360ml sample from Clean and Shiny but that works out at £73.50/128oz when I could buy the 120oz bottle in one...

Do you ever get fed up/bored with testing new products?

I was thinking this the other day as a tried a few new products that didn't give me significantly better results/weren't any easier to use than the ones they were potentially going to replace. I've got so many products from so many manufacturers that are all great products, but a lot of them...

How much clear does polishing actually remove?

I've tried a search but couldn't find a great deal... I know it all depends on paint hardness etc but on average, how much clear would be removed if I went at it with #83/SSR2.5 with a light cut pad? It's for use on another forum where I'm getting told that machine polishing is bad and that...

    Mum's Freelander gets the treatment!

This is my Mum's Freelander. 58k on the clock, not had a lot of care shown to it, and regularly gets filled up with bags of compost, plants, bits of tree etc (she's a horticulturalist) so you can imagine what the inside was like. Anyway, she was away for a couple of days so I told her to...

    Black E60 M5 - SRPx2, EGPx4

This is the same M5 I detailed a couple of months ago. My friend was going on holiday for a couple of weeks so left the car with me for a "mini" detail. It was in very good shape as I wash it every two weeks for him, but that's all - it had never had a QD or anything. First up, beading of...

    Nasty 528i Touring (2000)

This was today's nasty detail, a 2000 dark blue 528i Touring which the owner (as they always do) said "wasn't in bad condition". To be fair to him the interior wasn't too bad at all considering they have two kids (both of whom play rugby), it's a light colour interior and it's five years old...

#80 (Speed Glaze) vs. #82 (Swirl Free Polish)

I've had #80 for a while and have just added #82 to my collection and notice that they both share the same cutting ability (or so the label on the bottle says). So what exactly is the difference? I realise #80 has some protection in it for freshly painted surfaces, but is that it? On...

    Aluminium Cars

Is there any reason why an aluminium (specifically a Ferrari 360) car would respond differently to detailing than a steel one? A client asked whether or not anything would be different. I asumed no, but just want to double check. Thanks, Ben.

How to reduce splatter with a rotary?

OK - I guess this has been asked a million times before but there aren't many answers to be found when I did a search. I've become pretty proficient with the PC so invested in a 9227 a while back but so far haven't really had the need/time to have a play with it - until this evening. I started...

This is how I like business to happen...

Just had a call from a total stranger saying he'd seen me detail his neighbour's car and thought I did a fantastic job - could I come and do his car. This is a first for me (as I've only just started my business) so imagine the stupid grin I get on my face when he tells me it's a Ferrari 360...
