    Aquapel story/tip

I polished my windshield with Ceriglass Cerium Oxide and Griot's glass polishing pad. Did a nice job of removing water spots. Not sure if I like the felt pad over a foam pad, but not really going to get into that here. I have a half dozen Aquapel applicators sitting around for a few years...

    Forever Black... Zaino....

Hey...haven't been around much because my cars have lasted 6 months with little need for anything but a wash here and there. Did the BMW today with 3 coats of ZFX5. Will finish next week with 3 coats of ZFX2. That is what lasted 6 months on the daily driver. Can't beat that! I did notice...

    Lexus 430 LS

Just took a crack at a 2002. Retail MSRP 69,600 back in 2002. They were willing to come down to 63000. Oh, I should mention this is the Ultimate model with everything under the sun. I can get a 2003 without all the bells and whistles for 63K but the 2002 is identical and is loaded with toys...

    Souveran over Blackfire...

Well it's been a few months since I have done any serious detailing on my cars. It was about 92 degrees outside and 85% humidity, so the conditions were ideal to go to work in my garage (about 100 degrees in there)! The Mustang had just been washed and the surface was still very shiny with...

    Blackfire still going.....

I spent $150 on Zaino stuff last night getting all ready to strip the Mustang and do the Z treatment. This morning, I pulled the car out of the garage, rinsed it down and noticed the water was still beading/sheeting extremely well. Now this is several months that the Blackfire has been on the...

    Bugs on hood of Bug....

My son came home with his VW Bug and the hood is totally trashed with bugs. We scrubbed with a bug sponge and bug and tar remover, but I think that his finish is finished! I am thinking about trying the PC with a wool pad and some FI II. Has anyone tried this with success on bug damage? H...

Att: RaskyR1, I hope your Christmas tree is down.

I just picked up two more Big Blue drying towels on sale from CMA for $39.95. I know that there have been many opinions on the best drying methods, but this MF is definitely superior to the Water Bandit and the Absorber. I thought the Water Bandit was the cat's meow until I tried Big Blue...

Taming Godzilla......Nissan GTR R35 gets Tru Shined up!

The other day I took the garage queen out for a spin. It hadn't rained in about a week, but as usual it rained for about 5 minutes, just enough to make a mess of the car.... Now this wasn't a major problem, because it was due for a wash anyways. I didn't have time that day, so the next...

    Zaino on the Bimmer

Finished up the 330i today. 3 coats ZFX/Z5 last weekend. 2 coats ZFX/Z5 and finished with Z2 without ZFX today. H

93 Mazda Miata paint correction, Megs VS. Mothers

I did an extensive side by side comparison of the Valentine 1 and the Escort 8500. The ergonomics of both units were good. The V1 has a problem with the windshield mount not releasing well so you have to undo the suction cups to remove and hide the unit when parked. The Escort windshield...

dIs one coat of Z2 enough if one 5 coats of Z5??

Sal says on his site that you should always end with Z2 as your top layer because of its optical properties. So if I have 5 coats of Z5, and then finish with one coat of Z2, is that as good, not as good, or better than using 3 coats of each (Z2/Z5)???? H

    Hi everyone

I have spent the last 6 hours washing, claying, SMRing, PPCLing, Z6ing, ZFX/Z5ing the bimmer. A few comments... If you don't own at least a PC (or a rotary) and expect to be doing the kind of stuff you read here on Autopia, I think you are kidding yourself. In order to get a good prep, you...

Lets talk about aluminum diamond plate

I treated my Mustang leather seats with Leatherique. The rejuvenator oil is ...well...oily! It glops on and I used a terry applicator to spread it out. I left it on overnight and most of it was absorbed, but there was still a film of oily stuff. I whipped out the Pristine Clean and went over...

    Optimum No Rinse Tips

I just gave the Mustang its second wash since layering on a few more layers of BF a few weeks ago. I have been using Z7 instead of BF wash, and I think that the shine and slickness seem to be holding up much better than when I was using the BF wash. I seem to remember someone saying that it...

    Blackfire...beading!!!

I took the garage queen to the movies (Blackhawk Down/she loved it) and it rained :sosad :nixweiss :scared Well, I happened to notice that the water was totally beading on the hood and all around! I think this is the first time the car got really rained on since applying BF. It tends to...

    Bmw being built

I just put down a couple of layers of H&C Concrete Stain (water soluble) on the driveway. I let it dry for three days and moved the cars back onto the drive. Now there are tire tracks that seem to be embedded in the stain. The guy at Sherwin Williams said to use the water soluble stain if it...

    the best technique

I have been thinking about getting a second radar detector. I already have the Escort 8500 and it works great. I was going to buy the Valentine One to test it out, but I have two issues with it: 1.. I have metallic tint on the rear windshield which according to V1 tech support will totally...

If oxidation occurs even under all sealants....

Then why do people strip Klasse after about 6 months to a year despite adding new layers, but not with Zaino? Zaino users say they just keep on layering Z5/Z2 etc and don't ever re-prep the paint once its done and topped with Z except for periodic claying. I have been hesitating putting a...
