BMW to increase clear coat hardness

Just got back from a dealer meeting where I presented for BMW - for service staff - and it was announced that to keep the amt of RID's down in transit, BMW for 2013 was going to increase the hardness of the clear to the level of MB. All I know, but something to look out for...

    Too much restoration ?

I read recently in car and driver that a car owned by Ralph lauren, a T250 rare Ferrari of some sort , was worth less after he restored, than if he would've left it alone and not restored it as much. Does anybody know why that would be?

    Damn you Todd...

So as most know I been rocking the TPns+CS+Poly spray for my DD and been quite happy. Nothing could be better. Until today when I received a sample of BFWDAFPP and put it on my horiz surfaces over the other products..... I'll be damned if the gloss/reflection of my ceiling fan did not go up...

Ultima Paint Guard on new BMW wheels

While the wheels are new I thought I'd get a coat of sealant on them. Using the technique used here by Legacy GT: http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/detailers-showcase/38514-bbs-wheels-get-serious-cleaning.html So I cleaned with alcohol (20%) and then spritzed the wheel with Ultima Paint Guard...

So I got the Z4 today and man what a car. the new 4 cyl turbo is amazing - more torque and same hp as old 6 cyl. That's the good news - the bad news is the car definitely needs to be clayed. Why is Dawn bad for stripping?

Does anyone know chemically why Dawn is bad for stripping products? I occasionally see where a APC is recommended or a type wash, and it goes on to say Dawn is bad. In using it the occasional 1-2 times annually on all my cars for years, I have seen no damage and it strips well...anybody have...

Restoring a LED 360 anchor light...

My all around LED anchor light was no longer "all around" as the sun had hazed it over like 10 year old Taurus headlights. I could buy a headlight restoration kit, but a wool pad and rotary does it again. At first I thought it was so far gone, I sanded for an hour with 600,1500 and 2500 to...

    Opti Coat for radomes

The topsides of an offshore boat is sprinkled with antennas for the electronics; Radar, GPS, Sirius and Nexrad Weather. They are all plastic and weather fast - although 303 keeps them in good shape, they go dull fast. So what to do? make the gloss permanent with Opti-coat 2.0... Just did my...

Obviously they do, but for how long? Assuming thery are in your detailing closet and not undergoing environmental extremes, and are sealed in their original bottles, are some prone to go quicker than others? It comes into play for me when I look at some products avail in 32 oz vs 16 as since...

The clay just flew over the surrface!

A clay question: I have a fellow in the neighborhood with a 3 year old Hyundai that he takes very good care of. We used Ultimate compound and a DA on it about 2 months ago and now he wanted to move to another wax, so he asked me yesterday to come clay it. I used a ONR as a lube and the clay...

Todd: diff of BFWDPS and CS?

Is it just that the CS needs no buff off? Do they both have the same level of protection and gloss? note: I really hope as you guys go forward that you keep products differentiated with specific applications and characteristics, instead of the overlap that some companies do. I love CG stuff...

    Advice on strippers

No no the pole type.... If I want to take a car down and eliminate all sealants, waxes etc, I've always used Dawn. Is there a better solution? I see some of the detailers use a CG citrus shampoo or the car pro eraser. Not to single these out. but is a dedicated product like these better than dawn?

Help with spoiler respray In the pics you can see that my spoiler - which was painted at dealer- and is a bolt on, does not have the same gloss as the car itself. I fear that no amount of correction can bring it back to the car gloss as it is missing some clear coat. I have polished it, and...
