    Megs gets it right....almost....

I picked up some Megs NXT glass cleaner on discount at Kmart. This stuff is really good. Wipes and doesn't smear-at least with a microfiber. I like it better than Invisible Glass. Only problem is Megs has it priced too high for the average consumer to buy. If they lowered the price they'd sell more.

    fabbing a rotary top mount...

I bought a rotary that had a side handle and 3 mounting positions-1 being on top. I decided to fab up a mount for the top hole as I thought the long handle on top would be awkward. While a round ball might be the most ideal, I used what I had available-a hockey puck. I drilled a hole in it...

I wonder if the process of bleaching carnauba doesn't weaken it. PS is reknown for poor durability and other carnaubas tend to fair better. Opinions?

    why orange peel exists...

I was talking to a body supply shop manager yesterday and he told me why factory paint jobs have such horrible orange peel. He said that on the factory line they want the paint to dry fast so that it goes out the door as fast as possible. This fast dry time prevents the paint from flowing and...

    Rotary backing plates...

I've noticed that a lot of the rotary backing plates are listed as 7 inches and are intended for use with the 8.5 inch pads. Even if you find one 6.5 inches it still doesn't leave any room for error if using a 6.5 inch pad. I found a 4.5 inch backing plate at a local welding supply store. It...

    Grey suede Target MF's...

picked these up on a whim and found that I rather like them. They effectively spread spray products like Z8 or AW. They may work well for cleaning windows as well. They also work well at removing easily removed sealants. I'm not sure they'd be the best choice for carnaubas as those may need a...

    Duragloss water spot remover...

First off-this stuff stinks-ok, it doesn't smell that good. They claim it doesn't remove "durable polishes" and it hasn't harmed my Zaino. It is effective at removing hard water deposits and airborn contaminents that sometimes evade mild carwashes. If you've got water issues it's worth buying.

    silicone again...

Interface Science What Makes Silicones Special? Silicones are the only organic/inorganic hybrid polymers that have been extensively commercialized. This is true for several important reasons. The organic portion in poly(dimethylsiloxane) or PDMS – by far the most common silicone polymer –...

    Z6/Z8 tips and tricks...

I've had occasional issues with Z6/ Z8 streaking. I've had a chance to work through those issues and think I've found the solutions. First Z6 is extremely concentrated and for me has worked better by adding some extra water. Some go 50% Z6/50% more water. I used roughly 66% Z6/33% more water...

    polydimethylsiloxane...

Polydimethylsiloxane is the main ingredient in dielectric silicone grease. It's also an ingredient used in many paint sealants although i'm sure the solvents used are different. I'm not sure I like the thought of smearing grease on a car. Isn't that what you are really doing when you apply a...
