    Megs unigrit...

Accumulator sent me a couple sheets of Megs unigrit 3000 to play with. First of all this stuff feels almost grit less. I used some 3m 2000 grit with a water/NXT soap mixture. That allowed the 2000 grit to glide effortlessly over the paint. When I attempted to use the NXT soap with the unigrit...

    things I learned this week...

Wetsanding is possible if you are careful(watch next week my clearcoat will fail:scared: ) If you decide to wetsand avoid all edges. It is hard(scary) to buff an edge out. Taping edges might be a good idea. I don't like the orange pad and rotary combo. It is too hard to control the pad. I...

    Buflex?

found this on 3Dproducts... Topcoat Sanding With BUFLEX (for maintaing maximum Orange Peel) Sanding with waterproof abrasive paper produces a leveling effect that eliminates the Orange Peel texture which is acceptable in most cases. For matching most OEM paint, however, it is more...

    2000 grit sandpaper...

how aggressive is this? I'm thinking of trying to reduce some etching and got some 3m 2000 grit finishing paper. How risky is this?

    HTEC and orange pad...

I played around with this combo yesterday and it is a winner. It cuts but leaves a decent finish. Knocks down swirls fast. The HTEC has a decent amount of work time by PC at speed 6 and breaks down easily.

    ZCS and MF applicators....

I've had a chance to use CS several time now and recently tried a Quickie short nap MF applicator. I've never been a fan of MF applicators-in fact I've HATED them. I was pleasantly surprised. It seems as if CS applies more evenly with the MF applicator. I think the MF applicators have a bit more...

    California Microfiber towell...

I stopped by Pep Boys for the heck of it and saw a black California Microfiber. What caught my attention was the braided edge. I picked it up and that is when I realized this was no ordinary MF. It felt like no other MF I have ever used. One side is a standard weave for removing waxes and...

    LC white pad

Do you guys use this with a finishing polish for your final polishing step with a PC. I've gotten the impression that the black and blue LC pads don't have any cut so I don't see a purpose of using them with a PC. Am I wrong? BTW with a rotary I do use finishing pads with good luck.

    first time with wool...

I decided to break out of the mold and give a Makita twisted wool pad a shot. I devised what I thought was a safe plan of attack. I reached for a mixture of Mothers powerpolish and Megs #9(my MPP was thin so I thickened it up a bit) in order to prime the pad. This actually worked well at...

    Target MF...

Real Simple brand in the Housewares section for $5. They have several different styles. I picked up a gold dusting cloth. It isn't a sticky feeling MF like many of the automotive ones(but that may change after a wash). This cloth seems to be very plush and I think it would be good for QDing...

    neatest rotary idea...

I saw a new cheap rotary at Sears. I think it was a 4.5 amp or so-so it isn't overly powerful. The feature that caught my eye was that the body was 2 pieces. This allows the handle to rotate 90 degrees for verticle panels. It would be a nice feature for the more expenive rotaries to adopt.

    Megs backing plate "button"

anyone who uses a Megs rotary backing plate is aware of their protruding button for centering pads. I've used this backing plate in conjunction with a Megs pad but the pad doesn't quite feel flat during use. I decided to take a penknife and cut around the center of the pad about 1/4 inch deep...

    Tropicare carnauba wax...

This product applies very easily-like greasing a pan. It removes with a moderate amount of effort. It leaves a clear, glossy finish. I didn't detect any darkening ability. Beading started to break down at roughly 4 weeks so durability isn't it's strongest attribute. I'd reccomend using it as a...

After 12 washings Klasse was 8th with a 0.68% loss of gloss and Zaino was 14th with a 1.30% loss in gloss. Resistence to corrosion Klasse was in the 5 catagory and Zaino was in the 1 catagory out of 6. No. 1 catagory was - excellent, little or no rust whereas 5 was Bad, more rust than the...

Revolutionary product review (copy and paste)

Zaino Clear Seal (CS) This past October I attended a Corvette Show in New York. Sal Zaino was at the show, and I had a chance to meet him in person. After a half-hour chat two things stood out; Sal has a passion for cars and his product line up. He’s a human database of information. I couldn’t...

    New products 2007...

What new products do you want to see? I'd like someone to invent a perma-clear coat that fills marring/scratches permanently but applies like a sealant.
