"Hard" floor mats after APC+ cleaning

I've noticed with a 10:1 APC+ sol'n when cleaning carpets (brusing a light spray of the solution into the carpet) it leaves them a bit hard or sticky after it dries. And yes I rinse the area with clean water about 3x with a wet vac. I supose I could rinse it 5 or 10 times to get ALL the APC+ out...

    *MY* first paid detail

Well, I'm detailing my wife's bosses 99 Nissan Pathfinder this weekend (inside and outside). The cheap ******* didn't want to pay the $150 I asked (he makes $1xx,xxx per year) so I settled on $100 with him. I will not be making a habit of negotiating price in the future, but for my first time...

Topping EXP with Natty's...can you see a difference?

I just topped my EXP'ed hood with Natty's (kept just EXP on the rest of the car). Does anyone else *truly* see an improvement using Natty's over EXP or is it mostly "all in your mind"? I'm all for making cars look their best but not sure if Natty's made my EXP look any better:dunno My car...

    Question on Natty's removal

Just tried Natty's for the first time --- real good product! I think I like it over S100. I applied to half my hood with a PVA, waited about 10 minutes, and then buffed off. It was not *difficult* to remove, but I hate rubbing a dry mf over the paint with moderate pressure... One question -...

    Trim Restorer streaking badly

I applied freshly shaken TR with a PVA applicator to my Ford Focus exterior grained trim (side mirrors, door strips, etc) It sat for a day and then it rained and although the trim still looks good, the TR is streaking badly. Any advice?

Is a 5" backplate ok to use with a 7.5" LC pad?

Just wondering if the Autopia 5" backplate works ok with the LC 7.5" VC pads or should I really look for a 6" backplate? Looks like the velcro died on my almost new 6" backplate that came with the PC!

    Tricks to removing S100?

Just tried some S100 over 2 vehicles. One had EX already and was in the sun. The other had EXP and was in the garage. I would do the whole car and then remove right after I was done applying (looked like it had hazed) In both cases S100 was like glue to remove. It went on kinda easy but I...

    1Z wheel cleaner pH = ???

I noticed on the back of my 1Z wheel cleaner it says non-acid/non-lye but my Guru reports states it tested as an acid. Was it reformulated recently? What is the pH of the current version? Thanks. Additionally, is it as safe as, say P21S or R2000?

If you polish through the cc, is the damage visible?

Just wondering if you thought you polished through a clear coat, would the body panel look visibly different?

How does Natty's Wax compare to S100/P21S?

I have been assuming all 3 are very close in all aspects. Is that a correct assumption? Any reason to get one over the others?

    Recommendation for Ridgid vac

Well, I finally get to retire my 1hp/1 gal vac  On a recommendation of someone on this site, I bought this yesterday: http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/4-Gallon-Vac/index.htm It's a 5hp/4 gal. Haven't tried it on the car yet but it seems great just from playing with it so far. Cost was...

How hard to press on top of the PC for best cutting?

Which method cuts quicker/makes more heat and or is better/works abrasive products better? (especially at high speeds 5-6): 1. Press kinda hard on the PC to where it mostly stops rotating (but still rotates some). The pad spins less but maybe the pressure adds more heat to the surface? 2...

How many swirls have you decided to live with?

How many swirls have you decided to live with on your daily driver? (People with brand new car's can stop reading now :) ) My car is a 5 year old Acura I just bought last year. It's very shiny but very swirled. First I tried SSR2/cutting pad and did 3 passes pressing on the PC kinda hard on a...

Here's what I did on my 1 car garage (for cheap)

Just to give others some ideas, here's a pic or two of my 1 car garage. It was just bare drywall when I started. I probably only spent $500 on everything but it's so much nicer now. air reel (air compressor in the brown wood box, orange line run to the reel) electric reel white paint...

    Tiefenpfleger streaking, need help

I tried Tiefenpfleger today on my lower winshield plastic trim. I used about 3-4 sprays total for the length of it and rubbed it in well. I noticed it dried almost instantly and would not buff to an even layer at all with a clean cloth. The directions said to apply more if it streaked, which I...

    How to handle this situation

So I pull into the gym parking lot yesterday (in the back of the lot of course) and a couple spots down there is a Lincoln LS (also purposely parked in the back of the lot) that looks cared-for (somewhat shiney and tire dressing at least) But, it had some swirls and some "PC-removeable"...

Let's discuss how strong SSR3/yellow pad/PC combo is

I just did my first full detail to a 2001 Accord. It had real bad etched waterspots on the horizontals and bad scratching on the trunk lid. I did 2 passes on the trunk lid with SSR3/yellow cutting pad/PC on speed 6. It looked better (and by the way did not haze/micro-mar from what I could see)...

First time using CP, have questions for current users

Well, now I havew tried 303, PB NL, and CP on my 98 integra black interior. 303 and NL seem to be very similar (a white liquid), with the 303 being slightly darker/shinier. These leave a layer on the plastic, which I find nice in covering up scuffs/scratches on my 5 year old door sills, etc...

Do I really *need* other polishes besides PB's?

I have ssr 1,2,3 (and the PB's PP) already and have experimented with them some. I have not polished much of anything with my PC except my hood but the ssr's seem to work just fine. I plan to get 2.5 too when it comes out. I at least like the *idea* of the ssr's being able to be used in the sun...

2002 Volvo S80 - real leather seats or coated?

I will be detailing my fathers S80 in a couple weeks. Will I need to use leather products for the seats or vinyl/coated leather products (like 303)? Anyone have experience with this car? Thanks!
