    Jescar Aggressiveness Chart

I don't know how I got looking at the Jescar website, and this was mentioned in passing in this thread https://www.autopia.org/threads/what-pad-for-the-extra-fine-polishing-step.193541/ , but Jescar has a lot of compounds/polishes and no real "rating" system that I can find. These are the...

    Menzerna Cut Force Pro

I'm not sure when this product came out, but it seems to be the be-all, end-all, one-stop solution for polishing, with Menz rating it at Cut of 9, Gloss of 9. I'm not even sure where you can buy it, but they seem to have it at Amazon, sold by Menzerna USA. We've seen these products before that...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

Ford is using a "two-wet monocoat" process on the white Transit vans, vs. a "3-wet" process. So they are only doing 2 steps, instead of three (I think there is no CC). That may have nothing to do with this peeling problem, I was just speculating that perhaps there is some new process for white...

What New Products are you trying in 2025

Ha, Bunky, Perl has been out forever. I got a bunch of little sample bottles of CarPro stuff I guess from Autogeek, a long long time ago (runs downstairs to look at expiration date of HydrO2--mfd in 2014). I've never tried my Perl (or the Reload or Eraser).

    Tesla Model S

There were a lot of stories about Tesla doing incredible things with the EV part of the car...and being ridiculously inept with the normal "car" parts of the vehicle.

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

I think the VOC issues are pretty much fleshed out already. When I was searching on this one thing I found is that Ford was trying to cut down how many paint steps on the Transit vans since almost all of them are white, so, while perhaps unrelated to the topic of this thread, it may be that...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

Well, the Google Generative AI seems to think that the e-coat is different for white paint, which would explain it...I kind of thought they were less batch-oriented on the car lines these days. I thought in the old days they would do all the cars that were the same color at once, so as not to...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

That makes no sense, really, since it seems to be peeling down to the metal (in the Hyundai link, anyway). Why would white peel more than another color? Unless the primer system needs to be different because white doesn't hide as well, maybe that's it? The e-coat is different?

    Jump starter boxes

I got thrown of by Bunky posting FEHV, as opposed to FHEV. So and FHEV is a subset of HEV's, along with MHEV's? I kind of thought mild hybrids were at thing of the past, and therefore everything was lumped into HEV, but it seems within that there are FHEV's and MHEV's.

    Jump starter boxes

That sounds like a hybrid, which I believe would be referred to as an HEV, what does FEHV stand for? I'm only familiar with EV (Electric Vehcilcle), HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle).

What is that? Full Electric Hybrid Vehicle? I even googled that and got nothing (vehicle related).

Thanks again for making me aware of the Microsoft app.

    Jump starter boxes

Wow, thanks for letting me in on that (the app), sounds pretty useful, although I imagine the (Android) OS has something that does that, also. I mean probably the calendar has something along those lines...if I bothered to actually look into it.

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

I saw a behind-the-scenes for I think one of the Maze Runner movies, where they are running between these flood gates, or something that looks like that, and how they filmed on a sound stage that was all green-screened with marks for them to run through, and of course the actual scene looks so...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

It's a little scary--since we're talking science fiction movies, and not being able to discern reality from AI/computer generated, we've gone from horrible special effects in the 50's, to a little better in the 60's (think the Enterprise on strings) to Star Wars in the 70's/80's ("that almost...

    Jump starter boxes

Yeah but...(I'm trying to defend myself here), I used to think these were silly, too. But a couple of my friends got devices like these, I got to thinking about it, then this thread came along, and a battery in one of my cars started to scare me...I generally don't change a battery until the...
