Opti-Seal came out in 2007, and has had ceramic for about 3 years now.

Which products act like trim restorer and can be reversible?

I would start with a dressing and see what happens. Or have you tried that already? There's also this: https://www.griotsgarage.com/ceramic-trim-restorer/ It says it "lasts for weeks" so that would seem to be something non-permanent if you don't like the look.

    Who's MIA and checking in

I think I noted this in a different thread, Don has been active on his YouTube channel at least a couple of months ago. I also notice that some of his content is paid promotional videos, which may be the reason he hasn't been posting on forums owned by other companies.

Well, if you want something that lasts the longest, apply a coating. Has someone done some sort of controlled longevity test between Opti-Seal and 845? I suppose with YouTube anything is possible. Opti-Seal and 845 are both good products, you can't go wrong with either one. There are also a...

I'm not sure if that is really relevant since you can only get the latest version, and I'm not sure exactly how many versions of Opti-Seal there have been, but certainly the early versions were very forgiving if you put too much on, you could come back later and knock down any "high spots". I...

Well, that's one way of looking at it. I've said before on this forum, that if I was starting over I would just use a WOWA sealant like Opti-Seal, and forget everything else (granted, that was before ceramic coatings). I have not used the latest version of Opti-Seal that has the ceramic...

    R.I.P. Ron Ketcham

I think it was more like he had little patience for people from outside of the industry trying to tell us/him "how things actually are" in the world of detailing products...and that made him grumpy.

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Ok...I'm not even sure what I did. The one I pictured is a Ridge Washer undercarriage cleaner, one of many similar ones they have at Amazon.

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Are you asking me, Lonnie? Yes I have some concerns about forcing water into places it shouldn't be. I have some kind of angled thing that attaches to a hose that I used to use to try and flush with, I think I may have gotten it at Griot's. As has been noted the mag chloride doesn't really...

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

They are selling ones on Amazon that have a detergent bottle like a foam cannon that's mounted on an angle, that's what I was looking at (after seeing one in a YouTube video). They are about $50-60.

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Well, not really. I've got one that I don't drive in the winter anymore. What else can I say? Age, time, priorities, family, etc. I don't really have the appropriate facility to do what you do to get under the car to scrub. Maybe someday. Maybe I will get one of those undercarriage washers...

Hey Brenan, just between you and me (I won't tell anyone), are you a bot?

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

No, of course not. I mean, that's why I never bought the Salt-Away. I used to try to do some sort of underbody flush every spring, but I haven't even done that in a long time.

    Carlack products off eBay

It wasn't really a short time, it was from at least 2005 (as jeffswerkstatt.com) up until 2017. In the middle there somewhere, Jeff simplified the URL and store name to werkstat.com, whoever Jeff was.

Any safe proven products to neutralize winter salt on bodywork and undercarriage?

Every time we have one of these threads, I intend to get some Salt-Away, and then I never do.

    Carlack products off eBay

Ha. I think I have a bottle of that Insect Remove somewhere, I should dig it out, should help for rinseless washes. I got it from Werkstatt. It's too bad no one is importing the Carlack products anymore, I think PBMG had taken over the import on Klasse, I presume they still do. It must be...

Yes, but at the time I posted this thread the only place I could find to buy it was Amazon. Well, tell us about it!

If you decide to try an iron remover, consider the Stoner Odorless Iron Remover. It's a little slower acting than the thioglycolate-based ones, and it turns the iron orange instead of purple...but it smells a lot better.
