What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

I have a couple of the 3" Griots pads and in that size the orange's are very similar in cut to the the larger Rupes yellow's I use today for just about everything. I might have to try the Griots Black BOSS pads. The paint on my Subaru is pretty soft. This has me wondering if the current pads...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

I think we're all starting to see AI agents at work and may not even know it. Ever call a customer service number and get the voice that asks you to say what you are trying to do, or you get an automated chat when you log into some corporate web site? Those are all AI agents, though from my...

    Which AIO?

Do any of them have durability with talking about? I used Griots One Step Sealant many years ago and was pretty disappointed. It provided great correcting ability and left the surface really glossy, but durability was around 6~8 weeks. I used Prima Amigo for quite a while and wouldn't call...

What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

Thanks, Lonnie. It's good food for thought. I'll have to think about how far down the rabbit hole I want to go for this little project.

What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

Have you used it? I noticed they the red waxing pad, but also a black "finishing pad". I've never used Griots pad other than some 3" oranges and yellows and wasn't sure how soft the black might be or even the reds. Despite using a Griots polisher, I forget they make pads too. Not sure why.

What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

Thanks! The last time I polished out the car, I couldn't help but wonder whether I could get a little bit better gloss. I'll have to give them a try. I have an orange HDO pad I got as a sample a while back and liked it. I'll have to get a couple black ones and give them a try.

What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

Now we're in the depths of winter, I can only think about detailing. This can be dangerous depending on what catches my attention. I freely admit to doing a lot of 1-step polishing jobs on my cars. Over the years, I've managed to dial in the right product and polish combo to get really good...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

I think the cost savings idea is probably true, but why then are the problems only seen on white? I'd think the thinner paint applications for the sake of cost savings would cause premature failures or all paint colors.

What Do YOU do first in detailing a vehicle: Your sequential methodology

Fun topic. 1) I always do the exterior first. No idea why. I think I started it when I would apply a sealant and it had a "cure time". I'd use the cure time to work on the interior. Now that I use coatings it's a little less important, but I still do the exterior first and then the...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

That's what I found interesting. In the second link there are images of Toyota's and a host of fleet vehicles from Ford and maybe GM that are peeling down to the bare metal. It was a problem with the Acura/Honda's too. I've seen the TSB for Acura and the images Honda provided was a white MDX...

What's the deal with white paint peeling?

As the owner of a perl white Acura MDX I was aware of Honda/Acura having issues with white paint that drove extended warranties for their vehicles. Our car was build a year or two after the warranty window, and the paint looks good. However, I then see the following story that references the...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

You think that CGI from Oblivion was suprising, see if you can run down some video of the CGI and techniques Disney is using for some of their streaming shows like "Mandalorian" The "making of" shows on Disney+ are pretty incredible. In addition to an amazing sound stage set up they have the...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

There are lots of good examples of AI getting out of hand in the movies. HAL in "2001 Space Odyssey" (love that movie), the WOPR in War Games, Skynet in "Terminator", V.I.K.I in "I Robot"....the list goes on. I think a bigger problem than an AI taking over is humans weaponizing AI. People are...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

I think it changes as Google makes improvements and also the type of question being asked. Recently when I asked a fairly specific question, the little "link" symbol at the end of each paragraph a reference link to the place where information from that paragraph originated would kind of appear...

Artificial Intelligence and Detailing Information "Plagiarism"

It is funny to see the wide variety in the quality of the results. The one thing I do like about it is the reference link to each data point in the AI response. It allows you to validate where the info came from and see, "the rest of the story" for the particular source in order to get better...

What New Products are you trying in 2025

My burn rate on products is really low these days, so I really need to focus on using up what I've already got on hand. That said, I'll be re-coating my car in the spring and will be giving Armour Detail Supply's Quartz Coating a try.

    PBMG Customer Service

Didn't they take the original Detailer's Pro (DP) and another product line (started with a "X") to make M37 originally? Then when Bob sold the company and left with M37, PBMG brought back DP...only it's not as good. At least the products I've tried.

    PBMG Customer Service

The mat cleaner was a post-revamp product, but it seems to be totally gone, not just out of stock. Eldo over at AG noticed their Complete Leather product is no longer available in gallons and you can only order it from AG whereas other stuff can still be found at Amazon. I like the fact none...

    PBMG Customer Service

I can't remember them releasing any new products after PBMG was sold to the new owners. I'm sorry to see those brands dying away. I've enjoyed using a few products from Wolfgang and Blackfire. I just noticed the Blackfire mat cleaner I've been using for a few years is gone now. Makes me...
