    Chevy Black wheel wells

I've never owned a convertible, so I have no expierence with convertible tops. A friend with a new Z3 2.5 wants me to detail his car (cloth top). Is Gold Class shampoo ok to use to wash the convertible top, or do I need to be careful to avoid touching the cloth top with GC?

0 to 60: Sometimes. Oxidized to rich and wet: 5 hours.

This past Monday, my friend gave me a real detailing project. Time to test out my detailing skills. The car was a Mazda (323?), about 15 years old and as oxidized and dull as can be. Bird crap was baked on to the paint, scratches galore, and its last wash was, according to my friend, about...

FT: Lake Country 1-Pad System Promo

I was taking one of my very frequent trips to Wal-Mart today, and as I was studying the shelves, looking at the same products I saw the day before :) , I noticed a lone Eagle One bottle in the very back of the shelves. It was hidden in the back and I couldn't see what it was, I just saw the...

So we've established that you're obsessed... but have you waxed your dictionary?

I finally got the pictures in (though they are poor quality, no digital). I took one side of my dictionary on a rainy day and did a little "touching up." A couple weeks, ten layers of Klasse, and two coats of Meguiar's #26 later, I have the shiniest dictionary on the block (just like my car...

A little hello from Tampa, FL

Easy question for an Autopian: YES! I am now known as the "Car Care Consultant." Great title! And the other day, I was talking to a professor friend of mine. We were talking about something idealistic (I forgot what exactly, quite honestly), and when I was meaning to say "utopian," and on...

    Happy Birthday Eisen Hulk

I'm sorry, I don't have time for a full review, but I just need to tell you guys that I used Eagle One Mag Chrome Aluminum Polish for some rough spots on my wheels. I'm not sure exactly what the black spots were-- rust, baked on brake dust, whatever, but with the EO Polish and some hard...

2011 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Quantum Silver by Richie's Custom Detailing

I am gonna help a friend on Monday who needs some "touching up" on his car-- 10 year old car, non-clear coated, over a year since it was last washed. I planned on doing this (using my PC): Mother's Clay (not by PC!) 3M Perfect-it II rubbing compound (probably with a wool pad), 3M FI-II (foam...

What's the best store bought wheel cleaner?

Ok, ok... I've heard it over and over EF HI is the best stuff for wheels and tires. I agree, it is good stuff. But whenever I, or anybody else, asks about other wheel cleaners we can get locally, we hear, "Well EF HI is the best." SO, what is the best wheel cleaner available locally?

    Favorite wheel cleaner and why

The CMA website says that you can spray a little Eagle One Wipe 'n Shine on a foam applicator when applying Klase SG. Do you reccomend doing this? Because the Klasse directions say not to use wet the applicator at all.

    Removing spots from black trim

A friend gave me a full bottle of Perfect-it II rubbing compound. Is this stuff too aggresive to use on clear coated cars? For those of you who have it, what could I use it for? Another friend has a non-clearcoated car that's pretty beat up and old, so could I use this with a wool or foam pad...

Why do car manuals and dealers reccomend drying with a natural chamois?

Just a question I thought of while I was scanning the archives. I have seen many car manuals say to use a natural chamois to dry, but most everyone here agrees that chamois will yank off the wax. So why do the companies reccomend a chamois?

I'm SOOO tempted to buy a rotary!!

As many of you know, I have griped and complained about my "faded" black '92 car. I have had a PC 7336, and sure, it's fine. It's basically a very very fast hand. It works great for most cars, but I really want a dark, wet looking finish on my ten year old baby. I need a rotary to get those...

    Guess my process

I'm doing it. I'm conforming to the Autopian ways. I finally ordered myself some Klasse AIO and SG (thanks to the group buy!), and I have a couple application questions. 1) Do I apply AIO like a polish? Can I apply AIO with the PC and work on small sections at a time, buffing off as I go...

For those looking to try Autoglym HD....

Everything I use seems to give my tires a nuclear glow, (and yes, I've use 303 and Endurance.) Since I have a black car, I would like the look of dark, maybe jet black tires. Any suggestions?

Anybody tried Meguiar's Gold Class All Metal Restorer?

I saw this at Target on sale for a couple bucks. I thought about picking some up because it was so cheep and I don't have any "metal restorer" products in my elephantine (and growing) collection of car care products, but I thought I'd check with the Autopians first. 1) Does it work? Does it...

    Re-using drying towels

I posted about this earlier, and now I have more questions. I put Gold Class wax on a black car, and it looked stunning. The next day, I QDed it with Final Inspection and added a layer of #26. After I buffed out the #26, it looked bad. Big swirls were everywhere in any light condition. So...

What is my Thermax Therminator worth?

In addition to the Hendrick Autoguard Exterior Renewer which I just posted about, I also found some STP Son of a Gun! vinyl, rubber, leather, and plastic protectant burried in the garage. I decided to use my cheap materials on my friend's black Mercedes CLK (as stated before in the "Mystery...

    87 Porsche

A friend of mine gave me his car care pack that came with his Lexus RX300. It's packaged in black bottles and the brand name is "Hendrick Autoguard." (Rick Hendrick owns many many dealerships in NC and in the South.) I figure it's repackaged stuff, but I have no clue what it actually is. This...

How clean do pads need to be?

Does everyone here use a PC, either the 7335, 7336, or 7424? Does anybody use anything else, say a Craftsman, Waxmaster (I think that's what it's called), or one of those nifty Cyclons with the twin oribitals? Also, does anybody here use a rotary? Why or why not, and how much expierence does...

What's the difference between Meg's #20 and Gold Class wax?

Aren't they both synthetic, or does the Gold Class have some carnauba? Which one lasts longer and, more importantly :) , which one gives a better shine?
