    Blackfire Questions

Under the professional detailing forum, bretfraz posted a link to a "quiz" on www.carwash.com (here) I have a question about question 6: What is a tri-coat? A tinted clearcoat? Does the difference matter? I have to admit, I do not know what a tinted clearcoat is and couldn't find it in the...

P085rd plus H20 Crimson pads has really impressed me.

There are several different Royal Velvet and a few Charisma towels here. I have never bought RV or charisma towels, so those might not be killer deals. I thought I'd post so those of you who do purchase them could have at it. The Egyptian Cotton looks soft... anyone ever used it? Josiah

    Insurance

What have any of you experienced with insurance? I've gotten one ballpark quote for liability only, and several insurance companies won't insure mobile detailing beause it is so "unique," or small. I'm getting a quote tomorrow... Anybody have any feedback? Lability only, or equipment covered...

BF SRC Compound & Finishing Polish vs. M105/205

Anyone know about any water softners that are safe to use in water on your car? Ron, got any comments? My water is really hard, and I'd love to find a way to soften it up a bit if that is possible, without a machine. I'm wondering if there is a chemical that will do it. Josiah

Paint peeling - best think to do?

We have an old 1986 Ford Conversion van that has been outside all of its life, and the paint is peeling on the hood (one half the hood) and some spots on the side. Haven't even looked at the roof ... What should I do to keep it looking its best for the rest of its life, short of getting it...

    Yearning to learn the trade

How long do most of you spend on claying a vehicle? DETAILKING, ScottWax, do you offer this as part of your mobile detailing? I am asking as I am trying to decide whether or not to include it for an extra price, or as a package, or at all. I spent a good 3 1/2 hours on mine, but that was the...

Looking for a Detailer in Florida

I used the Mother's Clay, yellow bar, with the supplied lub I got in the hit from autozone for about $20. I had to span it out over two days because of the short days around this time, and QD'd before I did the last half of the car with Meguiar's QD. I really didn't like the lub that came...

2008 Honda Accord Coupe (Black and Swirly)

I did a third of my car today with Mother's Clay and the QD they supply in the kit as lub... and it left horrible streaking all over the car. Even when I buffed it off right after I was done with an area, still is was streaking. Is this normal? I plan on washing and finished the car tomorrow...

3M'ing and then Klassing next week?

I was going to go and wash my car and clay it today or tomorrow, and then when my Klasse gets here on Tuesday do that... question is, should I just wait until Monday to clay and 3M? Only thing that would make it NOT wise is the car gets dirty on Sunday/Monday from driving a lot (busy weekend)...

    Armor all on plastic

I bought my car used, and as such there are a few details I get to be challenged by. One is Armor All on the console cover. At least I am guessing it is Armor All... I think it is on the outside facing part, so how do I remove it? Mequiar's clear plastic polish seems to be more of a beautify...

    Optimum Compound and Polish Comparison

I have a small problem.... I have Mother's Wax, 3M SMR and 3M FI-2 on the way, along with Klasse AIO and SG. I am going to go over my car with the clay, then the SMR (probably not the FI, but perhaps). Then I'm going to apply a coat of AIO and then SG. Here is my problem: The dust here is...

    Oxidized red Jetta

Where do you all buy Mother's Clay? I cannot find it at Autozone... I am going to check Checker's tomorrow, and maybe a few other Autozone around. Their site says you can buy it there.... anyone?

Optimum Leather Protectant vs. 1Z Leather Care *PIC*

Hey all, I went to target to get my Gold Class car wash, and noticed they had what looked like the California car duster. It was called "the original," but I wonder if it really is. I am going to get it, because where I live my poor car gets dusty in 8 hours. Once I put some Klasse on it, it...

    Automagic products

Does anyone use the Automagic (www.automagic.com) product line? I was calling detailers around here in Colorado, and one of them used them... Wondering what you all thought. I'm in the process of deciding which supplies to buy as I start my business, any tips are greatly...

What to use for oxidized polished wheels?

Anyone know how to fix, or "reattach" pin striping that has come off? There are small pin stripes on the side of a truck that are starting to fall off. Is there a glue that you would recommend? I'm looking to get involved in the detailing business, and hope to contribute to this forum in the...
