    Not such a good day!

Hi everyone! Well, I had my worst day yet as a detailer today. These past couple weeks have been awesome, I got a contract with a large company in NC and a guaranteed detailing day out there once a week. They also went ahead and purchased about $3,000 in business insurance for me and a mobile...

    Acid based wheel cleaners

Every once in a while I get a vehicle with wheels that look like they haven't been cleaned in years, and my normal choice for cleaning wheels (called Super Green Stuff, from Majestic Solutions here in Raleigh) doesn't cut it. This stuff contains no acid, but some of the degreasers they carry at...

    One step wax

I've been offering a express detail package that involves one step wax for those people that don't wanna pay for 2 or 3 steps, and I had been using Rightlooks cleaner wax. It does okay for a one step, but doesn't seem to contain much polish, any recommendations for another one step? I've used...

    CarBrite pads?

Has anyone here used CarBrite pads for the pc? They only come in the larger sizes, but I generally use the Megs pads in larger sizes as well (8inch, I know most dont). I ask because I have direct access to them and wouldn't have to order. Any help would be appreciated.

Need critiquing of my engine detailing!

I've had a lot of requests for engine detailing, but have yet to offer it since I had no experience doing them. So I decided to start practicing, and need to find out if I'm doing a decent job. This is my third one, on a little silver C class I'm going to be messing with all week. I wet the...

Rotary Questions (and a few others)

I've been detailing full time for about 1 yr now as a mobile detailer here in NC, and things have really blossomed. I've been staying booked 2 weeks in advance for a while now, and people seem really pleased with my work. Only problem is I feel like I'm limited in the amount of paint...

SSR1 and 2 are so easy to use!

I just got my SSR1 and 2 in, and I got to use it this afternoon on a black CRV with a few scratches on the hood. It was so nice to use a product that wipes clean with minimal effort, and to use it in direct sunlight. The scratches were from a bra and were all across the hood (this car is...

    Need a little advice!

I know an individual who recently purchased a Honda CRV, and when she removed the nose guard it came with to wash it, she found a line of light scratches across the hood from the bra. I am going to try an remove them with SSR2 with yellow megs pad with my PC, and follow up with Polish w...

Looking to use some Poorboys products

Okay, been using Meg polishes for the past few months, just #9 for spiderwebbing and DACP for swirling, but I've been reading so much about Poorboys stuff. Im gonna go ahead and order all three SSWR's, but my questions are; How do they compare to Megs polishes on shine and swirl removal? What...

    A few quick questions

I started working on my friends jag today to get out some very minor swirl marks, I washed and clayed, and started to polish the hood with Meg's #9 and it started raining. So i cleaned off the residue and told him I had to stop. I'm gonna re-wash and clay the around the wheels and start...

89 Jeep with some dead paint

My father in law has a 89 red jeep with some seriously dead looking paint, and wants me to get it looking new again. I know that this paint is single stage, and I'm not sure what to do with it. Can I use DACP with the PC and a polishing pad then follow up with #9 and a sealant? Or maybe MMPC...

    03 Black Jag with swirls

Well, I finally got my PC and its awesome! Did my dads 5 series, and applying the polish (car brite Foam Pad Polish) was so easy! Now for the questions, I have a lawyer who has a 03 black Jag, only had it for 6 or 7 months, and its got some good swirls etched in the paint. As soon as you...
