Rain Spots: Why So Tough ??

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I accidentally got some rain spots -- actually, hose water spots -- that I let dry in the sun. I couldn't believe how tough it was to get the stuff out: I tried Autoglym on the glass, glass cleaners, claying, AIO on the glass/paint -- it would have taken me...

    Poorboys QD: It's INDESTRUCTIBLE *

    * If you use it on asphalt !! lol I don't know how useful this will be to the rest of you, but about 2 months ago I used PB QD+ on my car. Well, I had a bit of trouble with the spritzer and some spilt out on the driveway, etc. Well, I wasn't going to clean it up so I just left it there...

Cleaning Wheels: How To Seal & Protect ??

I want to just clean my wheels today on my Civic....I remember someone mentioning using AIO or SG after they were hit by the cleaner, clayed, etc. Has anyone used that combo? Should I use both or just one? Also, if I'm just looking to "coat" the wheels to make it easier to clean future brake...

    First Heavy Use of Poorboys

Took care of my sister's 2003 Honda Odyssey today (sorry, no pics). Wash, Clay, and then PB PP followed by EX-P. This was the first time I had used PB PP and EX-P (before, I had used AIO, SG, and UPP at various times). I was impressed with easy manner in which EX-P went on. I did need to...

Klasse SG: Major Problem Taking Off Residue

Working on a Nissan Maxima '98 Brilliant Black, we had washed, clayed, SSR 2'd with a PC, and then AIO'd the car. Then we applied SG and it was SUPER TOUGH to remove. I mean, folding the MF towel and applying elbow grease didn't take off anything but the upper most part of the covering. You...

Clay Lubes: Four Star/ClayMagic Over Sonus

Hey, been trying out lots of clay lubes and I feel pretty comfortable saying if you need to order replacements, best to go with Four Star or Clay Magic. I tried some of the Sonus stuff today and it's milkier looking right off the bat and as a result, MUCH harder to remove. Didn't see any...

Claying A New Car -- How Often ?

I clayed my 2004 Honda Civic a month ago when it was only about 7 weeks old. I was wondering -- it's been well-protected, first by AIO/UPP and now with layers of QD+ -- does it pay to clay the car again in October/November when I do the winter sealing? As I understand it, the claying is...

Any 15-20 Year Detailing Vets Here ?

If so, maybe you can help solve a mystery. This thread has the main facts: http://detailcity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6837 I'm trying to figure out what happened to the 2 kinds of "Liquid Glass" that were available in the late 1980's/early 1990's. And also which one -- or both...

    "Curing" of Sealants

I've heard the word "curing" in regards to allowing sealants to bond to a paint surface, in reference to waiting 24 hours. What exactly does this refer to? If the surface of the sealant is "dried" then why do we have to wait 24 hours or however long for the "bottom" part of the sealant layer...

    Liquid Glass: The Plot Thickens

I managed to track down an old VETTE magazine (1988) and it had ads for both kinds of Liquid Glass. I'll attach pictures of both ads and the 2 products. Might need 2 posts to do it -- sorry, not good at this. First, here's a link to the current Liquid Glass product from one of our sponsors...

    QD+, Carnubas, and Rain.....

I've had to QD+ my car 3 times now in about 2 weeks.....water spots, dirt spots, and today, the bottom panels of my doors look like I chased the General Lee and the Duke boys through Hazzard County ("Gettchaaaaa...getchhaaaa....getchhaaaaa...") I didn't seem to have this problem the first few...

Poorboyx SSR -- How Much To Use ?

I did 2 cars this weekend with my PC and SSR 2.5. Looks like I used about 1.5 ounces on each car (about 3 oz. total, or about 1/5th the bottle). Is that about right? 2 medium-sized sedans, just used the stuff and the PC on the big panels, roof, etc -- didn't bother to apply it in the...

    Cleaning Colore/Tinted Glass

I understand that you need special precaution when dealing with tinted/colored glass. (1) I have a moonroof on my 2004 Civic. Is the dark color on the inside (I think it is) or outside of the moonroof? Assuming it's the former, then would AIO and/or Autoglym Glass Polish be OK on the...

    Back of MF Towels ??

Just curious...what's the back of MF towels comprised of? I have some detailing towels (autogeek) and unlike the waffle weaves, the "rough fiber" feel on 1 side is NOT there on the back side. It's softer, less "rough" or abrasive. Are these towels NOT MF on both sides? Is it a differnet...

2001 silver Mitsubishi -- SSR Advice

Going to use my PC 7424, Orange SONUS pad, and some SSR tomorrow on dad's car. I only used my PC once before (about speed 3 - 3.5)...folks are saying to use it at a faster speed. I just put it on a fast speed in my room and at speed 5 that thing ROCKS!! I guess I have to get used to it...

1 Z Glanz Wax -- any users out there ?

Hi, since I have some QD+ (has carnuba) wax layers on my car, I was thinking of using my Glanz Wax this weekend as additional layer/wax. I want to apply synthetics (AIO, SG) in October, but in the meantime, I don't want to strip the recent applications in order to prep it for synthetics. So I...

    2004 Honda Civic EX Question

Hey, Pros, can any of you tell me about the paint jobs on a 2004 Honda Civic EX Magnesium Metallic - single or double stage, clearcoat amount, etc? I can't find it from the Honda folks. If you don't know about this particular Honda and color, the closest model year and color you have will...

    AIO vs. SG

Just curious....the SG bottle says to use about 2 oz. per car (about 1/8th of the bottle)....does anybody find that they're using MORE or LESS of AIO for a single layer? I think I used closer to 1 oz. when I used AIO a few weeks ago...I haven't used SG yet so I don't know about the viscosity...

I Let PB QD+ Sit for 5 Hours on my car !!

Put it on yesterday about 8 PM and took off most of it after 1 AM !! It was a bit tougher to take off, I let it sit so long mostly because I got tied up, not because I thought it would make it look or "stick" better. Poorboy, anyone else: ever notice if letting QD+ or any other products...
