Anyone run their shop vac without a filter?

In recent magazine (Professional car washing) there was an article that mentioned vacuuming. Basically to get maximum airflow they put a few gallons of water in the shop vac and took the filter off. Used the water for filtration. Anyone do this? I take my filter off when I am extracting...

Sams Club Microfiber towels in Orange

I'm a sucker for different colors. Normally I switch from Sams Club Blue and Costco Yellow towels. While in SC over the holiday I stopped in Sams Club and they had 25 packs of Orange Microfiber towels ($11). My local store in VA also has the Orange towels in. Hopefully they will stock Blue...

I hate the stupid black dots on cars from trees

If you know what I am talking about, my guess is you hate them too. Unless of course you have a super way of getting them off. I'm talking about those little black purple dots from some sort of tree. The are about the size of a roller ball in a pen and drive me nuts. Usually when I encounter...

    Proforce Generator problem

I have one of those cheap yellow 2500 watt proforce coleman generators. It's ran pretty well but other day something started making a nasty rattling noise. Noise was for a few seconds at start up and would appear at various loads and speeds. I removed some things so I could see around the...

    Brass Quick Connect set

In my setup I run a shurflo pump to my pressure washer and to my garden hose (I use air hose though). I use the pressure washer now and then but mainly use the air hose. Over time my quick connects wore out and I had mismatched sets of male female fittings. I've needed to replace them for...

    Duragloss #104 question

Recently from Carquest I picked up #104. I noticed mine is labeled differently. On many sites I see #104 Wet Look Paste Wax. Mine says Wet Look Paste Polish. Is there a difference? I like the product except that it has the consistency of warm pudding. Seems like it should have been in a...

    Will wax build up

If for instance you washed your car and waxed it with say p21s each week. I suspect after a certain point (several coats) the wax isn't going to build any more that you'd be just maintaining a level. Curious to know if I am wrong.

QEW ONR DP am I the only one that prefers QEW :)

Last year was first time I tried this type of product. I picked up a gallon of QEW, then orders 3 galllons. I don't use it all the time in my business but I use it often enough. A while back I tried a 32oz bottle of ONR. Ignoring the smell I tried it a couple times and didn't like it. The...

    Gloss Meters

Anyone use one? Seems like it would be a neat tool to have but the cost is too much for me. Hundreds to thousands of dollars isn't likely to happen. I read on a few sites Gloss meters measure the distinctness of image gloss. They can be as simple as a sheet of paper with a graduated scale of...

    Getting ready for winter

Last week there were a couple of mornings that I left out and thought it was a tad chilly. One morning I dug my sweatshirt out from under my buffer bags. I keep one in the truck all year long just in case I need it. It was in no condition to be worn though due to age and crap that has spilled...

Target has single subject spiral notebooks for $.25 for 10 pack. Each is 70 pages. At 2.5 cents a notebook I'm now the owner of 780 notebooks (unless they stop my wife from buying the second batch). Should last the kids through college. Had other stuff on clearance too.

    Panel spotting from dressing????

Ok many years ago I remember reading about tire dressings causing spotting on light colored panels. Always seemed to be solvent dressings that were mentioned. These spots seemed to disappear over several months. I only encountered it one time on a white pontiac. The indeed went away after a...

One way not to use a pressure washer

I recently added a pressure washer back to my set up after many years. Until this afternoon I was disconnecting the hose from my pump set up to the pressure washer. I don't use the pressure washer all the time. Now I have a Y connection so that I can use the regular hose or the pressure...

Anyone using a shorten Pressure Washer Lance

I added a pressure washer back into my equipment a few weeks ago. It has been around 10 years since I last used one detailing. One thing that is bugging me is the length of the lance. Guess 3 ft or so. There are certain areas that it is difficult to hit such as the lip inside the wheel well...
